We’re excited to share that we’ve made it through our first three weeks of school! Students are settling into routines, building friendships, and diving into new learning. This month, we’re focusing on strengthening reading skills, exploring numbers and operations in math, discovering properties of objects in science, going on adventures in our communities in social studies, and practicing thoughtful writing. Thank you for your support at home as we work together to make this a wonderful year of growth and discovery!
Parents should have received an email from your class room parent this week. If you did not and would like to receive emails from them please email: roomparents@glenhopePTA.org to get them connected. Thank you!
- Please remind children to take good care of computers; carry with two hands, keep away from food, drinks, and little brothers or sisters. Each night we ask that you have a special place to charge the chromebooks and double check that they make it in your child's backpack in the morning. We will talk to the students about how it is their responsibility, but please help them for the first couple weeks.
***Please send in wired earbuds or headphones that plug into your child's chromebook. Label them with your child's name if possible.
Please make sure your child brings a pair of wired headphones to school as soon as possible. We use headphones every day for learning activities, and unfortunately, we do not have enough extras to provide for everyone in the classroom. Having their own set will ensure your child can fully participate and stay engaged. Thank you so much for helping us make sure all students are prepared for daily learning!
For those who have kindly asked about our Amazon wish lists, you can find them by clicking on your teacher’s picture.

The student knows that matter has measurable physical properties that determine how matter is identified, classified, changed, and used. The student is expected to predict, observe, and record changes in the state of matter caused by heating or cooling in a variety of substances such as ice becoming liquid water, condensation forming on the outside of a glass, or liquid water being heated to the point of becoming water vapor (gas). 3.6C Matter and energy.
The student understands how individuals, events, and ideas have influenced the history of various communities. The student is expected to identify individuals, including Pierre-Charles L'Enfant, Benjamin Banneker, and Benjamin Franklin who have helped to shape communities. 3.1B HISTORY.
