Last week, our students showed their gratitude in the sweetest way — by making heartfelt cards for our veterans! After the amazing Veterans Day choir program (led by the one and only Ms. Cloud, who deserves a standing ovation herself), our third graders proudly handed out their cards. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house — and maybe even a few proud teacher sniffles too!
Now, we’re officially in countdown mode to Thanksgiving Break — pencils are wobbling, turkeys are gobbling, and we’re all just a few module tests away from mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie! 🦃✨
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 2nd from 6:30–7:30 PM for our Glenhope Fall Gallery Walk! Come see all the amazing art our talented Gators have been working so diligently on — each piece is a masterpiece in its own right! You’ll also get to witness the incredible skills that our outstanding art teacher, Mrs. Towery, has inspired in her students.
And don’t miss the special performance by our amazing Hatchling Choir — it’s sure to fill the halls with music and joy! 🎶💚
🎅🥞 Mark your calendars! On Saturday, December 6th from 8–10 AM, join us for a holly-jolly Breakfast with Santa! Enjoy fluffy pancakes, festive crafts, and of course, pictures with the big guy in red himself. 🎨📸 Don’t let the syrupy fun pass you by—register by December 1st to save your spot on the nice list! 🎄✨
It’s time to sink your teeth into your child’s progress! Parent-teacher conferences will be held on most Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:15–2:55. We’ll meet in person, but if a phone call works better, just let us know. We can’t wait to chat with our awesome Gator families!
PLEASE send headphones with your student. The ones we had in the classroom are now mostly broken, and it’s important that each child has their own pair. Students use headphones every day in all three of their classes, so having them readily available is essential for their learning. Thank you for helping us make sure your child is prepared and successful each day!
- Please remind your child to take proper care of their Chromebook: always carry it with two hands, keep it away from food, drinks, and younger siblings, and store it safely when not in use. Each night, ensure there is a designated place to charge the Chromebook and double-check that it makes it into your child’s backpack each morning. While we will reinforce that caring for the device is the student’s responsibility, your support during these first few weeks is essential.
Additionally, please send in wired earbuds or headphones that plug into your child’s Chromebook. If possible, label them with your child’s name.

Last week, we put our detective hats on to uncover the author’s purpose in different types of stories—were they trying to persuade, inform, or entertain? We also sharpened our grammar skills by making sure our verbs and subjects work together perfectly in every sentence. It was a week full of great discussions, teamwork, and lots of “aha!” moments!
This week students will be learning...
Reading- This week in Reading, we’re so excited to start our novel study of The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling! As we dive into this delicious story, students will practice important reading skills like monitoring and clarifying their understanding, exploring literary elements such as character traits and plot, and identifying the author’s purpose. We’ll also look at how media techniques help share stories in different ways. This unit connects to TEKS 3.1A, 3.6F–I, 3.7C–G, 3.8B, 3.8D, and 3.10A—but most importantly, it’s sure to be a sweet learning adventure! 🍫📚
Grammar-This week in Grammar, we’re polishing our skills by focusing on pronoun-verb agreement—making sure our pronouns and verbs are always the perfect match! We’ll also practice when to add -es or -ies to verbs, a tricky rule that helps our sentences sound just right. These lessons align with TEKS 3.11Di and will help students become even more confident writers and editors!
***5's and 6's fact fluency quiz Wednesday (Changed to wednesday because of Unit 3 test on thursday) ***
***Unit 3 Multiplication and Division Test Thursday***
Last week we learned how to find the area of a composite figure and how to divide using equal groups!
This week the students will be learning...

I can show the relationship between multiplication and division through models of real-life scenarios.(TEKS 3.4H)
I can Identify odd or even numbers, using divisibility rules.(TEKS 3.4H)
To help your child at home with these skills-
Create word problems involving up multiplication with two digit multiplied by one digit.
Practice their multiplication facts/ skip counting. (Students can log onto canvas for a link to our songs and online flashcards)
Work in independent practice workbook on pages 145-152.
Practice division story problems.
The images below are some ideas of math practice to do at home (choice board) and examples of these types of representations.
Dear parents,
Multiplication fluency is a very important foundational skill.
In order to accomplish this goal, students will practice their multiplication facts and will be quizzed every Thursday. Each quiz has 20 questions and they will be given 3 minutes to complete the quiz. They must score at least a 70% in order to move on to the next fact. The facts that will be assessed are x0-x12.
They will have class time to practice their facts but we also ask that they practice at home.
We recommend using flashcards and/or playing online multiplication games.
