Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe our last week of school before winter break is this week. We are looking forward to our class parties on Wednesday, December 17th, at 1:00! Special thanks in advance to our room parents for planning and organizing and for all the parents who are volunteering to help run activities and set up!
Our holiday tradition is back! All stockings were donated (THANK YOU)—now we just need your help to fill them.
If you’d like your child to join, please send small, nut-free gifts for your child’s homeroom by Wednesday, December 17th.
Lucero - 22 students
Mitten - 22 students
Gift ideas: pencils, erasers, party favors, bookmarks, small toys, candy.
Students will open their stockings together during our class holiday party on Wednesday, December 17th.
Thank you for helping make this season magical! ❄️❤️
Please remind your child to take proper care of their Chromebook or Ipad: always carry it with two hands, keep it away from food, drinks, and younger siblings, and store it safely when not in use. Each night, ensure there is a designated place to charge the Chromebook and double-check that it makes it into your child’s backpack each morning. While we will reinforce that caring for the device is the student’s responsibility, your support is essential.
Additionally, please send in wired earbuds or headphones that plug into your child’s Chromebook. If possible, label them with your child’s name.
EXPERT JOURNAL
(Spring Research Project)
EXPERT JOURNAL JOURNAL TOPIC SHEETS DUE TOMORROW, MONDAY, DECEMBER 15.
In order to be able to take notes for the research, students will each need a set of 50 spiral bound ruled index cards with 5 different colors. Please make sure to get the 4 x 6 size. These can be found several places. The brand does not matter. These will need to be purchased and brought to school when we return from the holidays in January. If you have trouble finding one or need me to provide one, please let me know. I have a few extra ones on hand.

Multiplication and Division Application
Unit Summary: December 1-December 18
Through repeated exposure and practice, students solidify their understanding of the standard algorithm to solve problems involving multiplication of a two-digit number by a one-digit number. Students represent multiplication and division in contextual situations, which provide real-life experiences and enable students to construct multiplication and division models (concrete, pictorial, and area models), equal groups, arrays, strip diagrams, and equations in a relevant way to solve 1- and 2-step problems involving multiplication and division.
Real-world numerical relationships are presented using input-output tables. Students explore number pairs in tables to determine additive and multiplicative patterns that exist and represent the pattern (or process) using equations and expressions.
