Dear Parents,

Thank you to all the families who have purchased items from our wishlists! We appreciate your generosity! If you have extra shoe boxes at home we will take them for an upcoming project. Thank you for all your support at home! Ms. Bell & Ms. Herrera

Reminders:

*Take Home folders should be checked each evening and returned the next morning.

*Ipads should be brought to school each day fully charged.

*Please help your child memorize their lunch code. It will make the cafeteria staff very happy.

*If you haven't already, please join PTA and help support Glenhope.

*Please make sure that you have filled out the background check on the district website. It must be submitted and approved prior to your eligibility to chaperone or volunteer at Glenhope.

Snacks

As a reminder, we have two snack times during the day. Please be sure to send nut-free (NO PEANUTS OR TREE NUTS) snacks. Please remember to put snacks in your child's backpack and not in their lunchbox. We send lunch boxes down to the cafeteria early in the day, so it's important that snacks are left in backpacks in the classroom. Thank you!

Library

Ms. Bell's class has library on Wednesdays this year and Ms. Herrera's class has library on Fridays. 2nd graders can check out two books at a time, and should bring books back to check out new ones before library the following week. Thanks for your help in making sure books come back to school. Better yet, make a habit of storing the library books in your child's backpack so they are always there!

Handle With Care

We'll keep this section in here for a while as we find it to be an important one!

We would like to provide additional support at school if your family is experiencing difficulties at home.

If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend please email me with the words "Handle with Care." Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let me know that your child may need extra time, patience, or support during the day.

Language Arts: Creative Thinking

I can demonstrate flexible thinking by using a perspective frame to share information about myself from another point of view.

I can learn about myself as a reader and practice the habits of good readers.

I can generate ideas for my writing.

I can show my creativity by completing challenging "ABC" centers - not your ordinary ABC's!

Math: Fact Fluency and Big Ideas

I can explore the various ways to make and show a number.

Science: What do Scientists Do?

I can observe and record data like a scientist.

I can solve problems like a scientist and explore sets of data to make conclusions.

Social Studies: What Do Good Citizens Do?

I can identify and exemplify the characteristics of a good citizen in my classroom and school.
