In Reading, we focused on making connections to what we read. We continued working with setting and discussing how the story would be affected if we changed the setting. In Writing, we are continuing to work on our personal narrative writing unit. Students have illustrated their front cover and are moving on to writing their final draft.
In Math, we are still in our addition and subtraction unit. We have moved on to two digit plus or minus two digit numbers. We have also started learning about regrouping.
Our Science unit on objects and materials continues through early October. We will learn about classifying objects, sorting by characteristics, weight, systems and how things can be changed by heating and cooling.
In Social Studies, our community unit is continuing by learning about local, state, and national government.
Reading/Language Arts: I can identify and use text features to understand what I read in a nonfiction story. I can write narrative stories about my own life. I can edit my personal narrative writing.

On vision screening day, we read the book Carla's Glasses. In the story, Carla's class is also having vision screening day. One of Carla's friends ends up needing glasses and he is feeling very nervous to be the only one with glasses. His classmates all make their own glasses so he wouldn't feel alone. We all got to make our own glasses too!
