Welcome back!

We have had a wonderful start to the school year! Our first graders are enjoying reconnecting with friends from Kindergarten and making new ones as they settle into their new classroom communities.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be focusing on learning and practicing our first-grade routines while beginning to explore the curriculum. Students will also complete beginning-of-year assessments and review important foundational skills as we prepare for an exciting year of growth and learning.

Once assessments are finished, we will begin sending iPads home. Please help children remember to bring iPads to school each day fully charged, as we will not have extra chargers available once they are sent home. If you prefer your child’s device to stay at school, just let the teacher know.

Next week students will begin visiting the library once a week for lessons and book borrowing. They are always excited to see what new books are available and challenge themselves as they grow and improve in reading skills. We are fortunate to have a former Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Arnold, as our new librarian. She has some wonderful ideas that our gators and their families will enjoy.
