Sunday, March 21, 2021 THE 5TH SUNDAY OF LENT

PRIEST: As we draw closer to Holy Week and the season of Easter joy, let us bring our prayers before the Lord who hears and answers the cries of his people.

1. For God’s holy church, inspired by the sacrifice of the martyrs throughout the ages, may it continue to boldly preach the good news of Jesus Christ, we pray to the Lord.

2. For leaders of nations, may they come together to end the scourge of COVID-19 and craft a vision for world unity, we pray to the Lord.

3. For those who are imprisoned due to political and religious beliefs, may their freedom be secured and their human rights safeguarded, we pray to the Lord.

4. For all gathered here, may any suffering we encounter serve to strengthen and perfect us in faith, we pray to the Lord.

5. For those nearing the end of life, may they be comforted and sustained by a loving community, and know deeply the tenderness of God, we pray to the Lord.

6. That God’s kindness be upon those who have died and have put their hope in him, especially Nellie Trujillo, Roger O’Conner, Hung Quoc Ngo, Dominico Khang Van Nguyen, we pray to the Lord.

PRIEST: God of redemption, in the death of your Son you brought about even more abundant life for him and for all who follow in his way. Hear our prayers that in our hope of the resurrection, we might proclaim in both word and action that life is stronger than death. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
