SUNDAY, December 13, 2020 3RD SUNDAY OF ADVENT

PRIEST: As we draw closer to the feast of Christmas when we celebrate the light of Christ being born into the world, let us lift up to God all the places of darkness in our own lives and in our world. With hope and joy, let us bring our needs before the Lord.

1. For all who preach the Gospel, may their words bring glad tidings to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, and proclaim liberty to captives, we pray (and sing) to the Lord.

2. For leaders of nations, in their policies and decisions may they work tirelessly to ensure support and care for the hungry, homeless and ailing, we pray (and sing) to the Lord.

3. For all those who grieve, may they know the tender compassion of God and find joy and peace in the midst of sorrow, we pray (and sing) to the Lord.

4. For all gathered in this place, having encountered the light of Christ in word and sacrament, may we in turn bring this light to others, we pray (and sing) to the Lord.

5. For those nearing the end of life, may they be comforted and sustained by a loving community and know deeply the tenderness of God, we pray (and sing) to the Lord.

6. That God’s kindness be upon those have died and have put their hope in him, especially Shavon Hoefer Velarde, Joseph Tai Chi Nguyen, Maria Bach Yen Thi Nguyen, __________ , we pray (and sing) to the Lord.
