Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
What an amazing Field Day! Thank you to Mrs. Holtmann for planning such a joyful event with just the right mix of old and new activities. We also extend our gratitude to all the parents who volunteered and came to cheer the kids on—this event wouldn't be possible without your support!
Several members of our parent community also presented our staff with a canvas of thanks, rocks with words of inspiration, and a check for staff wellness and fun. All of the ways you have reached out to thank and support our staff in the wake of the violence at EHS are deeply appreciated. The caring and strength of our school community is one of the many reasons why we all love being a part of Wilmot!
The next couple of weeks are busy with the Fun Run, Student Count Day, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and fall break. School funding in Colorado is based on student attendance during the "October Count Window," which runs from Wednesday, September 24th, through Wednesday, October 8th. The most crucial day within this window is Wednesday, October 1st. Our school budget is built entirely on our "per pupil funding." To maximize our resources, we request that all students (unless they are severely ill) be in attendance on this day. To make it as easy as possible for everyone to get to school, we're having a PJ Day!
The Fun Run is this Friday, October 3rd. It is our big fundraiser of the year, and the PTA is running everything! This means every dollar raised goes directly to fund: classroom materials, school technology, enrichment opportunities for our students, and possibly a new shade structure on the playground. Please spread the word to friends and family who might be interested in sponsoring your child with a donation per lap or a flat amount. Each grade will run in the bus loop during their Art/Music/PE time. Just like for Field Day, Jeffco Safety and Security officers will be on site for the entire event. We invite parents to come cheer kids on or even run a few laps with them!
The week of Monday, October 6th through Thursday, October 9th is Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please sign up for a time to meet with your child's teacher through this link: Parent/Teacher Conference Scheduling. A variety of times are available, including during the school day, after school, and into the evening. Thank you in advance for actively partnering with us to support your child’s success! Please note that fall break for students and staff is October 10th through October 13th.
Ongoing Support Following the EHS Violence
The healing continues in the wake of the violence at Evergreen High School. We are grateful for the additional mental health support we've had available to both students and staff over the past week. Yesterday, I spoke with Courtney Hill, the Victim's Services Manager for Jefferson County. She shared that, in recognition of the impact of this event on Wilmot students, staff, and families, victims compensation benefits are available to us. Please see the links to access a variety of resources, including the Victims Compensation Application. If you would like help filling out the application or have questions about the list of participating counselors, representatives from Victim Services will be at Wilmot on Monday from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM.
Sincerely,
Stephany Fritz
Principal, Wilmot Elementary
It’s official – October Count Day this year is THIS Wednesday, October 1.
The most important action you can take to support school funding is to make sure your student attends school on that day. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to make sure your student comes to school that day.
The “count window” the state observes is from Wednesday, September 24 through Wednesday, October 8, but the most important student count day is Wednesday, October 1. Help us get an accurate count by having your student participate in learning that day.
If your student will be absent on Wednesday, October 1 due to illness, please call our attendance line, 303-982-5370 to report the absence. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on Wednesday, October 1.
Thank you for your support of Wilmot. Every student counts!
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is almost here! On Friday, October 3rd, all Wildcats (Preschool–5th grade) will run to support our school.

Just like we’ve done for the last few years, please put your canned and boxed food in the boxes in the hallways under the CATS bulletin board. Let’s see if we can fill all the boxes with our generous donations! We will be collecting food until September 30th. Thank you!!
Picture re-takes will be held on October 15th. If you would like to have your child's photo taken again on that date, time will be available during class.
