Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you are enjoying a fun long weekend! As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I am looking forward to spending time tomorrow at the National Western Stock Show to see our Wilmot Warblers sing the National Anthem! They will be performing at the 1:30 Rodeo show.
There are a few important events coming up this month. Please see below for more information about the CATs fundraiser for Mercy Chefs, preschool enrollment opening on Tuesday, the Wilmot Spelling Bee, and information about the Mountain Area Science Fair. In addition, the Wilmot PTA and I are asking parents to fill out a quick survey that will help us maximize opportunities for parent involvement: Parent Survey.
Coming up next week on Tuesday, January 24th, is the Mountain Area Safety meeting, an event we’ve been working to put together for quite some time. Jeffco’s Department of Safety and Emergency Management will be presenting information to parents alongside our community partners, including local fire departments and the Jeffco Sheriff's Office. They will address some of the unique challenges schools and residents in the mountains face including response time and wildfire preparedness. Conifer HS will be hosting this event from 6:00-7:30.

Please look for a communication from your student's teacher next week regarding enrolling for next school year, if you have not already done so. Wilmot Community Action Team
Wilmot Community Action Team
The Wilmot Community Action Team will be sponsoring a fundraiser for Mercy Chefs from January 9 - February 3. Since 2006, this organization has traveled to places that have been devastated by storms all over the country, and all over the world. They are even supporting people in Ukraine. They feed thousands of people at a time from their food trucks. They provide hot, satisfying meals to those who have lost everything. They also have many community kitchens in areas where people need support. In addition, they work to feed the 1 in 4 children in the USA who do not have enough to eat due to food insecurity issues.

3. Select the first option: DONATE to a School or Program
4. Using the dropdown menu, select Wilmot Elementary and enter your amount to donate!

Please join us for a meeting to discuss school safety in the mountain area. The meeting will be on Tuesday, January 24th from 6:00-7:30 at Conifer High School. Jeffco's Department of Security and Emergency Management will be there, as well as representatives from our local fire departments and Jeffco Sherriff's Office. In addition to the information presented, parents will have an opportunity to ask questions.

The Evergreen High School Varsity Poms are hosting their annual Junior Poms Clinic on Jan. 27 from 4pm - 8pm at EHS. This is one of the team's most popular and successful events that includes dinner and a halftime performance! Boys and girls in grades 1-5 are invited to attend this fun night and discover what it's like to be a Pom for a Day!

Hello Wilmot Wildcats! Our Wilmot Spelling Bee will "bee" on Monday January 23 in the cafeteria at 1:30pm. Students have taken their classroom tests and we will have 40 students participating in our local bee. The top winners from this bee will "bee" moving on to the Mountain Area Spelling Bee at Bergen Valley Elementary on Thursday February 2nd at 4pm . Parents are welcome to join us to support their speller! Third, fourth and fifth grade classes will be coming to cheer on their classmates.

Jeffco's Early Learning Department has asked that we share this linked letter with families who will have preschoolers next year. Please read through details included HERE.
New this year: Jeffco families will use Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program (UPK) application to enroll in preschool for the 2023-24 school year.
Due to implementation of the new UPK application, families will wait until January 2023 to apply. This change is for preschool enrollment only. Visit this webpage to learn more.

Join Evergreen Children's Chorale for an exciting performance of Suessical this spring! Have fun! Make friends! Wear super colorful and fun hats and costumes! Auditions will be held THIS Tuesday, January 17th at 4:30 at Evergreen Lutheran Church. Please visit evergreenchildrenschorale.com to register and get the audition materials or just come (and bring a friend) on Tuesday and we'll get you all set up on site.
Rehearsals are held Tuesdays in Jan/Feb and Tuesday and Thursday in March/April. Performances will be the weekend of April 14, 15 and 16 at Center Stage.
