PTA Fun Run Prize Day!
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
We had almost 100 entries into the Pumpkin Book Character Contest this past week! There are some pictures to offer a sneak peak, but if you happen to be in the building this week for Halloween, I highly suggest that you stop by to take a look at all of the entries showcased in the library. Our students are so creative!
Speaking of Halloween, the weather is forecasted to be much warmer and drier by Tuesday for the Halloween parade. Parents are invited to watch the parade from 1:00-1:30 outside. Kids should wear normal clothes to school on Tuesday morning and then we will give them an opportunity to change before the parade begins.
Please keep in mind that we do not allow any fake or real weapons of any kind as a part of costumes. Masks are allowed for children’s costumes, but adults are not permitted to wear a mask at any time. Since we will be outside for the parade, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the temperature under or over their costume.
It is time for our annual Original Works order through Mrs. Marcus. This program allows parents to order a variety of items with their child’s artwork on it for holiday gifts. Unfortunately, the informational flyers didn’t make it into Friday folders this past week so please be on the lookout for them to come home with your child tomorrow, Monday, October 30th. Please email Mrs. Marcus at emarcus@jeffco.k12.co.us if you have any questions.
I hope you have had some time to play out in the beautiful snow this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing you at school!
Stephany Fritz
Principal, Wilmot Elementary
Thank you to everyone who participated in the pumpkin contest this year. We had some amazing entries. Winners will be announced tomorrow!
Halloween Parade: The Halloween parade will be outside in the bus loop, weather permitting. If weather is too wet and spooky, we will use the caferteria and gym for an indoor parade. Classes will be called down by grade level. Look for your grade level location on marked cones.
Alternative Party: The SPED team will be offering an alternative party for students who need a calmer celebration. You can let them know in advance or call Sarah/Jill's room to have one of the SPED team members come to pick up a student at any time during the class parties. The alternative party is available for any student!
The book character pumpkin decorating contest is in full swing, see above for details.
Schedule: Coach has put together a schedule for AMPS, parade and parties.
5th Graders Selling Hallograms in the mornings!
Thank you for supporting our 5th graders as they work hard to leave a legacy at Wilmot! Tomorrow is the last day for in-person Hall-o-gram sales (morning only) and online sales (cutoff is Noon tomorrow, 10/30).
What are Hall-o-grams? They are fun, friendly greetings for friends and Wilmot staff that cost $1 each and include a squishy toy! 5th graders will deliver Hall-o-grams to classrooms during the Halloween parties at school.
What is the 5th Grade Legacy Project? The 5th Grade Legacy Project is a special Wilmot tradition in which the current 5th grade class works to raise money to fund a project that will leave a positive “legacy” at the school. Some examples of previous legacy projects are the ever-popular Gaga Ball pit, the rockscaping behind the school that replaced the “mud pit”, and the beautiful mural wall near the basketball courts. This year’s project is dependent on how much the 5th graders earn through Hall-o-gram sales and Val-o-gram sales in February. They have big dreams and greatly appreciate your support!
How do I purchase them online? You can also buy your Hall-o-grams online here until NOON on Monday, 10/30 -- https://wilmot.memberhub.com/store/items/930456
Mr. Weedman would like to share with our community that The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra is offering a special discount Promo Code: CONIFER for their concert on November 10, 2023.
Kids 12 and under can get in free and the promo code allows for discounted adult tickets at $5.00 each (usually $30).
For more information and tickets visit: https://denverphilharmonic.org/production/sounds-of-change/
Please see this attached letter from our milk provider, Meadow Gold Dairies re: shortages we have been experiencing and will likely continue to experience into the holiday season. We will continue to keep school sites up to date as best we can as the situation evolves.
Our next project will be our annual coat drive for Coats for Colorado from October 19-November 30. Coats are being collected in bins under the CATs bulletin board in the front hall. They will be periodically taken to Dependable Cleaners in Bergen, where they will be cleaned and given to families in need. We will keep a running tally of our total number of coats collected. Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep kids and families warm this winter!
Calling all Watch D.O.G.S.! We are SO thankful to all of our wonderful Watch D.O.G. volunteers that help with drop-off and pick-up every day. These volunteers play a vital role in keeping traffic flowing smoothly and kiddos safe in the cross walks. Please consider signing up for shifts in support of our students. This is a wonderful way to get to know our community and get involved with your kiddos.
