Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
We had a great Veterans Day assembly on Friday to celebrate veterans in our community and across the country. A community member played the bagpipes to start our assembly, followed by the Girl Scouts posting of the colors and the Wilmot Warblers Choir singing the national anthem. Several of our students then shared the letter they wrote to homeless veterans living in the Denver area. We partnered with the local American Legion to add our letters to care packages that they assembled and delivered on Friday.
This next week at Wilmot includes the PTA Reflections reception on Tuesday from 3:45-5:00 and field trips for several grade levels to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. In addition, the first trimester report card and an updated fee statement will be sent home with your child on Friday. Your child's fees represent the actual costs incurred by the school for online and print resources for your child. When they are left unpaid, it has a negative impact on our school budget. Please return the signed report card envelope after the Thanksgiving break. Student fees can be paid by attaching a check made payable to Wilmot to the fee sheet or by going online via the Parent Portal of Infinite Campus. You can slip the fee payment in the report card envelope if you like. As a reminder, fees are waived for families who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch.
My next message will be on Sunday, November 27th after the holiday. Best wishes to each of you for a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
Your students and I, Mrs. Marcus, would like to invite you into art class to show off their stuff! We'd like to share our very personal work with those we love most! Stop by our class to see the great art, listen to the kids speak and sign their guest books. Presentations will begin promptly. As Wilmot Elementary PTA, we enrich your child’s learning, support classroom teachers, and enhance the entire student body with innovative tools and technologies. To do this, we throw parties with a purpose, take traditions and create memories, raise money to make a difference and engage in programs that create powerful connections to the school. We are a team of parents who collaborate with school staff, working together to create a culture that celebrates our entire community. And it’s our unique mountain community where our neighbors are our teachers and our parents are their supporters that is the key to our success. So whether your child attends an event or joins a program, know that the PTA is here to make a difference for every child at Wilmot Elementary in Evergreen, Colorado.
Welcome back to the ENC Jeffco Writing Challenge!
First place students will receive a $100 prize, and ENC is donating funds to the schools with the highest percentage of writing entries as well! ENC will award prizes for 1st Place-Honorable Mention for grades K-12.
Wilmot can also enter the Seventh Annual "I Love to Read" contest, and the winning school will receive a donation from ENC in 2023. Students who submit a winning "I Love to Read" entry will receive the same prizes as the winners of the Jeffco Writing Challenge. See our attached flyer for more information.
ENC has donated over $329,950 directly to public schools since May of 2009.
The final deadline for all entries for both the Jeffco Writing Challenge and "I Love to Read" contest is February 24, 2023. All entries must be received by ENC by this date.
Evaluation of a sick child must consider which diseases are currently circulating among students, staff, and the community. Known exposure to cases or an outbreak of a contagious disease (including but not limited to those listed here), even without a confirmed diagnosis, may necessitate more stringent return to school requirements.
During Colorado's ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, children and staff who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should receive testing, and follow the COVID-19 isolation guidance until testing is completed or if they test positive. If the individual tests negative for COVID-19, the individual should then follow the recommendations for their disease or symptoms using the below guidance. There are four main reasons to keep children and adults at home:
1. The child or staff is at risk of infecting others with COVID-19 or another contagious illness, either because of symptoms or recent close contact.
2. The child or staff member does not feel well enough to take part in usual activities. For example, a child is overly tired, fussy or will not stop crying.
3. A child needs more care than teachers and staff can give while still caring for the other children.
4. The child or staff member has symptoms or an illness is on this list, and staying home is required.
Officer terms on the PTA are limited to 2 years and as such we will need a new President and Treasurer for the 2023-2024 and following school years.
The people in the current positions will still be parents at the school and available for help and questions.
Please contact wilmotpta@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about this.
