Grateful to be a Wilmot Wildcat!
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving break filled with family and friends. You may recall that students wrote notes about what they are grateful for right before the break. Those notes were used to create the sticky note murals you see in this edition of the Weekly. Speaking of gratitude, thank you to the community members who answered the call for sensory room resources and generously ordered materials on our behalf!
Welcome to December and to the three busy weeks between now and winter break. Please note that open enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year begins on Tuesday, December 5th. We kindly request that you complete or confirm your child's enrollment before mid-January to help us accurately predict class sizes and allocate resources effectively.
One of Wilmot's core values is providing personalized support for each child's academic and social-emotional growth. We often rely on our talented paraprofessionals to enhance classroom learning environments. We are currently seeking a community member to support our 4th and 5th grade classrooms during literacy and math from January through May. The primary hours are 9:40 AM to 1:40 PM, but we are flexible and can adjust the schedule to accommodate the needs of interested candidates. This position may be extended to a 6-hour position with benefits. If you or someone you know might be interested, please visit the link in the Weekly and email me with any questions.
In light of recent threats made towards Evergreen High School, many parents have reached out to me with questions about safety and security at Wilmot. Jeffco Public Schools is recognized as one of the national leaders in school safety. In addition to yearly drills, the safety and security team audits our building to address any issues related to safety. Most recently, this team asked that we put an opaque covering over the classroom windows next to the interior doors. This work was completed over the Thanksgiving break. Our Facility Manager, Jake Trujillo, checks our exterior doors frequently throughout the day and after lunch and recess to ensure Wilmot is secure and our children are safe. If you have any questions or concerns related to safety, please reach out to me.

Hello 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade,
Time to start getting ready for the 2025 Spelling Bee! Our local Bee will be held on Tuesday Jan 28th at 1:15 in the afternoon. The Mountain Area Bee will be on Thursday Feb 6th, 4:30pm, at Wilmot. And the State Bee will be on Saturday March 8th at the University of Denver Campus in Strum Hall. There is also an online test that the contestants for state will have to take on Thursday Feb 20th. (no exceptions)
We are able to send the top 6 from Wilmot to the Mountain area Bee so we encourage everyone to participate. Thank you for taking the time to help our spellers grow!
Jeffco Kindergarten and 2nd grade students took the CogAT (Congnitive Abilities Test) this Fall. After testing, Jeffco sent this letter home to families. We have linked it HERE so that families can access the links within the letter, should you have any additional questions.
Attention Preschool Parents
Changes to preschool early/breakfast drop off
In order to ensure we can maintain the proper ratio and supervision for our preschool students during breakfast, they must be in the cafeteria by 7:30 am. The doors will be closed at 7:30. Families who arrive after the doors are closed at 7:30 will need to wait for the typical drop off at 7:50 at the classroom door.
Thank you for helping us keep our preschoolers safe!
Students in all classes, PK-5, enjoy access to the library every week! Students need to return their books before checking out new ones. You can contact Ms. Anderson at lindsay.anderson2@jeffco.k12.co.us to ask about which books your child might have checked out, or to ask about library fines for lost or damaged books. Thank you for helping grow your child's love of reading!
For our December PTA meeting, we’re excited to try something new. We’re hosting a cookie exchange and end-of-semester celebration, and we’ve also moved the meeting to a later time (after dinner) to better accommodate family schedules.
