CATs Water Bottle Collection for Joy's Kitchen
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful weekend! Thank you to everyone who donated used or new water bottles to the Community Action Team’s (CATs) collection. The CATs packed up 258 water bottles to be donated to Joy’s Kitchen. This past week our Wilmot Warblers sang at the Mountain Area Choir Festival. Our choir was by far the largest with over 60 members and their performance wowed the crowd!
We have a fun and busy week coming up. Last week was the kick off for our big fundraiser of the school year, the Fun Run! On Tuesday of this week, we invite everyone to join in a spirit day by wearing their favorite team jersey/gear and then on Thursday, the day of the Fun Run, students should wear their Wilmot Fun Run t-shirt. Our goal is to go all in on this event so we can avoid asking for donations at other times of the school year. The funds raised go towards enrichment opportunities for all students, teacher’s classroom budgets, school technology, and many other school and student needs. Please see below for information about how to share the pledge link with family and friends, as well as how to volunteer at the Fun Run to cheer kids on and hand out the lap bracelets. Thank you in advance for your support in making this event a success!
We also have the Book Fair going on in the library from Monday 10/7 through Tuesday 10/15. It will be open each day from 7:25-3:00. The funds from the purchase of items at the Book Fair are used to purchase new library materials for students to check out. The Book Fair also overlaps with parent teacher conferences. Please take a moment to use the following link sign up for parent teacher conferences between Monday 10/14 and Thursday 10/17. This sign up should be viewed on a computer, rather than a phone, so you can see the teacher on the left and the corresponding times on the right. If you do not have access to a computer, please call the office for assistance with scheduling. Thursday 10/17 is the first day of fall break for students and a work day for teachers. They will be conducting parent teacher conferences in the morning. Friday 10/18 is fall break for students and staff.
The Wildcat Watch, formerly known as Watch Dogs, is in full swing! We had a tie in September for the most volunteer shifts between Roger Miles, grandparent of a child in Mrs. Whitney’s class, and Woody Martin, father of a child in Mrs. Manley’s class and a child in Mr. DeBonis’ class. All three classrooms will enjoy an extra recess to celebrate! We are in need of additional volunteers to help ensure student safety during arrival and dismissal. Please consider volunteering for even one 15 minute shift a month. Please scroll down to see more information about how to get involved.
Please peruse the rest of the Wilmot Weekly to learn more about the Reflections competition and how you can help with judging, the first community Trunk or Treat being held at EHS, picture orders, and more. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing you at school this week!

4th Grade Field Trip - Colorado Adventure Point: Friday, October 11th
3rd Grade Field Trip - Union Station & 16th Street: Friday, October 11th
Our Run4Funds Fundraiser assembly kick-off is just around the corner, on Friday, October 4th, and the run is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we need your help to make it successful!
We are asking each student to set a fundraising goal of $100 in order to reach our $30,000 school fundraising goal.
What is the Run4Funds?
The Run4Funds is an all-school fun-run and fundraiser. On run day, students will run as many laps as possible in 30 minutes around a 1/16th mile track. Students will run with only their grade level, and most students will complete about 25-30 laps. This is a really fun day for the kids - we’ll have a DJ playing fun music and parents are invited to cheer on their kids. Prior to the run, students will request donations from family and friends, as either a dollar amount per lap or a flat donation. Students compete on an individual and class level to earn rewards based on how many laps they run and how much money they raise.
Volunteers Needed for Wilmot's Fun Run!
Our biggest event of the year, the Wilmot Fun Run, is coming up on Thursday, October 10, 2024, and we need volunteers to help make it a great day for our students! We’re looking for volunteers to hand out bracelets as kids complete laps, help with popsicles after the run, and ensure trash is cleaned up.
This year, we’ve also added a special role for volunteers to dress up as our mascot and cheer on the kids—our students would love it!

Your student participated in a digital breakout box experience last week introducing the Jeffco Battle of the Books competition. We are so proud and excited to be able to offer the optional but awesome experience for our 4th & 5th graders! Battle of the Books is a great way to get kids engaged with reading, collaborating with teammates, and participating in healthy competition where they can learn important sportsmanship skills and have a blast!
Please read through the information below and discuss this incredible opportunity with your child. We can't wait to get teams formed and start reading these amazing titles! Thank you, Mrs. Mihalik

The most important action you can take to support school funding is to make sure your student attends school through Tuesday, the 24th. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to make sure your student comes to school that day.
The “count window” the state observes is from Tuesday, September 24 through Tuesday, October 8. Help us get an accurate count by having your student participate in learning these days.
If your student will be absent due to illness, please call our attendance line, 303-982-5367 to report the absence.
Thank you for your support of Wilmot Elementary. Every student counts!

We have some exciting news to share about our Watch D.O.G. program!
Program Name Change
We're updating the name from Watch D.O.G.S. to Wildcat Watch. This new name better reflects our inclusive community and aligns perfectly with our school. We are still doing our contest each month to reward the classroom/s with the most Wildcat Watch volunteers.
Why the Change?
Inclusivity: We want to ensure our program welcomes all parents and grandparents—moms, dads, and guardians alike.
Tailored Program: Creating our own program allows us to focus on Wilmot's specific needs without the constraints of the national Watch D.O.G.S. guidelines.
Cost Efficiency: Transitioning away from the national program helps us avoid unnecessary expenses, allowing us to allocate resources where they're needed most.
Volunteers Needed
We're still in need of volunteers for the rest of this week and throughout the month. Your support is crucial in keeping our students safe during drop-off and pick-up times, as well as checking the school's exterior doors after classes begin.
Sign-Up Updates: We will be updating the sign-up forms to reflect our new name, Wildcat Watch. Keep an eye out for these changes, and feel free to sign up for any dates that fit your schedule.
