Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
Happy New Year! It was wonderful to welcome students back to school on Thursday and hear about their adventures over winter break. We have several important events and meetings going on this first full week back at school. We start the week off with Den Groups on Monday morning and then on Tuesday we have PTA and Wilmot Council meetings in the evening.
On Wednesday of this week, students will be participating in the vision and hearing screening. It’s important to recognize what the vision and hearing screenings are and are not. They ARE very general screenings that can alert families to a child’s difficulty with distance vision and their ability to hear certain tones. They ARE NOT a substitute for a regular vision exam for your child because the screening will not detect any difficulties with near vision (as needed for reading), color blindness, or general eye health. If you believe your child may need a comprehensive vision exam, but the cost is prohibitive, please contact me directly as we have access to some coupons for free or reduced cost exams, and glasses if necessary.
Friday is the last day for round one choice enrollment through Enroll Jeffco. If you need assistance with accessing or navigating Enroll Jeffco, please call the office and ask to speak with Ms. Carrie. If your child/children will be returning to Wilmot next year, please take a few minutes to let us know. Having an accurate count of next school year’s enrollment really helps us allocate our resources effectively to support students.
Coming up on the 16th, our Wilmot Warblers choir will be singing the National Anthem at the National Western Stock Show. It is quite an honor and will be an unforgettable experience for our kids!
Our District hearing and vision screenings will take place this Wednesday, January 11th. All grades, except 4th, will participate throughout the day. Please reach out to our school nurse, Morgan Stroop, with any questions you may have.
West Jeff Middle School will be hosting an open house this Tuesday, January 10th, for 5th grade families who may be interested in attending next year. Please see the linked flyer below for details.
Wilmot will be hosting Mr. Eric Stone for a 10 week guitar class that will be held from 3:40 pm to 4:40 pm each Thursday in the music room, beginning Thursday, January 11th. The last class is on March 16th with a student performance during that final class. Please see the attached flyer that went home in Friday Folders for further details.
