Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you’re having a great weekend. We had an eventful week last week, documented with great pictures of our spelling bee winners, our kindergarteners dressed up like 100 year olds for the hundredth day of school, and our preschoolers’ walking field trip to a construction site. I also want to celebrate that Wilmot raised $2,229 for Mercy Chefs!
This week is busy as well. All entries for the bookmark contest are due tomorrow, Monday, February 3rd, the Parent Survey is open through this Friday, February 7th, the Mountain Area Spelling Bee is at Wilmot on Wednesday, and there are also multiple field trips. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for the week of the 10th. Please sign up for a time through this link: Parent Teacher Conference Sign Up. Please note that the sign up should be viewed on a computer to ensure you are signing up for time with the correct teacher.
We need your help with managing student’s access to technology during the school day. We have students who are wearing Apple and other smart watches during the school day. They are making phone calls and sending and receiving texts which are a distraction for them and for the learning environment in general. Starting tomorrow, we ask that students either avoid wearing these watches to school or put them in their backpack during the instructional day. If you need to get a message to your child, please call the office at 303-982-5370 and we will ensure they receive it.
Technology has a big impact on children. If you would like more information about how you can protect your child, there is a free showing of the Screenagers at EHS at 7:00 pm on February 13th. Please scroll down for more information.
Thank you for choosing to be part of the Wilmot wildcats family! I’m looking forward to seeing students and families at school this week!

Our 5th graders are selling Val-o-grams to fundraise for their 5th Grade Legacy Project to benefit updating the artistic exterior of Wilmot!
What is the 5th Grade Legacy Project? The 5th Grade Legacy Project is a special Wilmot tradition in which the current 5th grade class works to raise money to fund a project that will leave a positive “legacy” at the school. Some examples of previous legacy projects are the ever-popular Gaga Ball pit, the rockscaping behind the school that replaced the “mud pit”, and the beautiful mural wall near the basketball courts. This year’s project is updating the wall facing the playground.
What are Val-o-grams? They are fun, friendly greetings for friends and Wilmot staff that cost $1 each and include Tootsie Pop! 5th graders will deliver Val-o-grams to classrooms during the day on February 13th.
How do I purchase Val-o-grams? The 5th graders will be selling Val-o-grams in-person on the following days:
Monday, 2/10 before school
Tuesday, 2/11 before school
Wednesday, 2/12 before and after school
Thursday, 2/13 before school

Navigating Social Media and Mental Health at Home: A Workshop for Parents and Caregivers
There is growing concern about social media’s impact on youth. The Surgeon General recently issued an advisory to the public about its potential risks to youth mental health. However, families often report challenges navigating social media with their youth.
Jeffco Public Schools, in partnership with Partners for Children’s Mental Health at Children’s Hospital Colorado, is hosting a virtual workshop that will explore the potential effects and signs of concern around social media use. Families that attend will receive a template for developing a social media plan with their youth and tips for navigating discussions around digital wellness.
Wednesday, February 26 | Noon – 1 p.m
Learn More & Register: www.jps.click/socialmedia-workshop
The virtual meeting link will be shared via email and on this website closer to the session date.
Per Colorado Board of Health rule 6 CCR 1009-2, schools and child cares are required to directly distribute the Annual Immunization Compliance Parent Letter to the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of every enrolled student. We must distribute one letter for K-5 and one for Preschool. Please find both letters linked below.
Round 2 of Open Enrollment for the 25-26 school year opened Thursday, January 23rd. Initial Round 1 lottery results were sent to families last week. Please reach out to the main office with any questions you have about enrollment for next year.
Visit www.enrolljeffco.org to let us know that you’re coming back for the 2025-26 school year. The earlier we know, the easier it is for the district to provide our school with all the tools and resources we need to provide a thriving experience for our students.

Calling All Local LEGO Artists!
My name is Mason Martin, an Evergreen high school senior and Lego artist. You can see some of my work on Flickr here. I am working with the Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) to produce an exciting upcoming Lego art show. This show serves as both my capstone project and an opportunity to showcase the creative potential of Lego as an artistic medium. I am thrilled to partner with CAE to bring this event to life and hope it will inspire artists and fans alike. We will also have a guest judge for the event - Aaron Newman, professional Lego artist currently working at Lego headquarters in Denmark.
The deadline for entry is 2/26 so time is of the essence. You can find the call for entries here and learn more about the art center here. Thank you so much for helping make this show a success!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
With gratitude,
Mason Martin
