Jumping into Fall with Joy!
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you’re having a great weekend and enjoying the warmth of this extended summer. It looks like cold weather will make an appearance mid-week, so please help your child remember to dress for the temperature and bring their coat. We value students' time outside, so we go out for recess whenever the temperature is 18 degrees or warmer for our kindergarten through 5th-grade students and 20 degrees or warmer for our preschoolers.
This is going to be a really fun week at Wilmot! We have the pumpkin book character contest Monday through Thursday, prize day for the Fun Run on Wednesday, and Halloween on Thursday. Thank you to all the parents, extended families, and friends who donated to our Fun Run! It was a big success, and the proceeds will allow us to support classroom supplies, special enrichment opportunities, building technology, library supplies, and fun events. Details about prize day can be found below.
Teamwork makes the Dreamwork
The Trunk or Treat event on Saturday was a great success and will be an ongoing tradition. Halloween is this Thursday, so I want to remind everyone about the rules regarding costumes and our schedule for that day. Costumes should be age-appropriate and cannot include any toy weapons, such as swords, lightsabers, guns, etc., or any inappropriate language. Please read communications from your child’s teacher about whether your child can wear their costume to school or if they should bring it in a bag. At about 12:40, after lunch and recess, students will change into their costumes before the parade starts at 1:00 in the bus loop. Parents are welcome to come watch the parade and stay for classroom parties from 1:30 to 2:20.
November 11th is Veterans Day, and we would like to honor veterans in our Evergreen community. If you are a veteran or know a veteran whom we can honor, please fill out the form below. Our assembly will be on the morning of the 11th at 8:00 am. Also in the Weekly is information about our new cell phone/smartwatch policy, picture retakes, and Wilmot wear, among other things.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing you at school this week!

2. What book are they from?
3. Why did you choose this character?

Thank You for an Amazing Fun Run! 🎉🏃♂️🏃♀️
We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible school community – staff, families, volunteers, and sponsors – for making this year’s Fun Run such a success! Together, we raised $25,374.59, reaching 85% of our goal! 🎯
Of course, the biggest shoutout goes to our amazing students! Without their energy, excitement, and hard work running those laps, this fundraiser wouldn’t have been possible. They ran a total of 5,338 laps, which adds up to an astonishing 334 miles! WOW! 🌟
As a friendly reminder, Wednesday, October 30th is our Fun Run Prize Day! 🎁 Students and classrooms that met their individual and group goals will receive their prizes. That’s also the day for the foam party and inflatable celebration! 🎉
Due to the forecasted inclement weather, we will be having Sandy Candy instead of the foam party this year. CLICK HERE to view ingredients for the Sandy Candy.
Thank you again for your support – we couldn’t have done it without you!
All grades music performance November 21st on the Wilmot stage. Due to capacity, we are going to have the kiddos perform in two groups. So grades K-2 will perform from 5:10-5:30 with an arrival time of 5:00. Grades 3-5 and choir will perform from 5:45-6:30 with an arrival time of 5:30. Each class or grade level will perform one song to show what they have been doing in music so far this year. We will go in order of grade level with Kindergarten, first, and second for the first show and 3rd, 4th, 5th, and the Wilmot Warblers for the final show. Of course you are welcome to stay for the whole show and if you have siblings in both groups you will get to see it all 🙂
Please let me know if you have any questions. Excited to rock out soon! - Miss Abby

At Wilmot, we believe that school is for learning. We also believe that personal cell phones, bluetooth headphones, and smart watches can be a major distraction to our learning environment and have a negative effect on our children’s brain development if used inappropriately. That being said, we understand and respect that families choose these items for their children due to safety concerns and convenience.
As such, we are implementing an Away for the Day policy. The expectation is that phones are off and in a child's backpack from bell to bell (7:40am - 2:35pm). We want to continue to teach our students how to use technology appropriately and appreciate your support at home.
If your student uses their cell phone at an inappropriate time, an adult will bring it to the main office and they can pick it up at the end of the day.
If we see the phone a second time, we will call home and let you know.
Anytime after that, parents will need to come in to pick up the phone for their child.
We have also seen an increase in inappropriate smartwatch usage. At this time, smartwatches are allowed to be worn for telling time, but not for communication during the school day. Smartwatches will be confiscated in the manner described for cell phones if students are using them for communication purposes. Please also note that wireless headphones are also not allowed during the school day.
Thank you for supporting us in keeping students focused on learning during the school day.
