Talent Show
Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
The Talent Show on Friday was a great success! Thank you to our brave performers and to Mrs. Karford for all of the extra time and attention she devotes to making the Talent Show possible and a great experience for our kids!
This edition of the Wilmot Weekly is a bit long because I have so much information to share - thanks for reading to the end! During this upcoming week, our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will take the Colorado Measures of Academic Success assessments. Each subject area is divided into three sections, with one section given per day and one subject area completed per week. This assessment is part of a body of evidence that demonstrates your child’s progress towards meeting the Colorado Academic Standards. You can help your child feel prepared and do their best by ensuring they get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.
On Monday, April 10th, please join Jeffco Public Schools Superintendent Tracy Dorland for a conversation about important issues in the district and the Conifer and Evergreen communities. This one-hour conversation, followed by a half-hour question and answer session, will be hosted by Evergreen High School. Please see the flyer below for more information. Also during the week of the 10th, we have daytime music performances for our kindergarten through second grade students. Please see the schedules for April 11th and 14th below. These programs will be recorded so you can see your child perform even if your work schedule will not allow you to attend the daytime performance in person.
Even though we still have two months left in this school year, we are beginning to do some planning for next school year. Wilmot is going to partner with two organizations to provide care and activity based enrichment for our preschool through 5th grade students. Rocky Mountain Kids is going to provide aftercare for our preschool through 5th grade students at Wilmot each day and during school breaks. Evergreen Parks and Rec will continue to transport students from Wilmot to Wulf to engage in activity based care and enrichment activities. This might include dance lessons, gymnastics, swim lessons, or intramural sports. EPRD is still gathering community input to determine exactly what will be offered. We hope that these new partnerships will result in a variety of options for parents and students and ease the transition to the new school schedule.
Each spring we engage in a very deliberate and thoughtful process to determine student placements for next school year. Classroom teachers, special education providers (if applicable), the specials (AMPs) team, paraprofessionals, and I consider each student individually, the dynamic of the classroom, and creating a balance of strengths and areas for growth across the classroom community. Parents are a valuable source of information in this process. If you would like to share information about your child’s strengths, areas for growth, and learning style, please fill out this form: Student Information 23-24. Please note that responses will be accepted until April 21st.
As a reminder, the free school meals that were approved by Colorado voters do not start until August 2023. Unless your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch, you MUST continue to pay for your child’s hot lunches through the end of this school year. You can visit School Cafe to see your child’s lunch account balance and make payments. If you would like to view the menus, please follow this link: Menus.
This was a long message - thanks for reading all the way to the end!
