Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to come in for parent-teacher conferences. I also want to thank everyone who brought food for teacher meals and to the PTA for coordinating and providing meals! These meals really make a difference when teachers are working 12 hour days during conference week!
This week students can start bringing in their pumpkins for the Book Character Contest. It is always so much fun to see students’ creativity! Please see below for more information about this contest. On Friday of this week students will be enjoying the Fun Run Prize day! Thank you again for your support of this event and of Wilmot. Your donations go to support technology, paraprofessional hours, classroom budgets, and many other worthwhile items and activities. After school on Friday is a parent informational meeting to kick off the Reflections competition. See below for more information.
Halloween is coming up next week. For those who are new to Wilmot, we generally have two classroom parties each year - one for Halloween and one for Valentines Day (aka Love our Community). We have a modified schedule on both days to accommodate parties during the last hour of the school day. For Halloween, you are invited to watch the costume parade from 1:00-1:30 in the bus loop, weather permitting. If the weather is bad, we will move the parade indoors to the gym and cafeteria. As you help your child choose their costume, please keep in mind that we do not allow any fake or real weapons of any kind as a part of costumes. Masks are allowed for children’s costumes, but adults are not permitted to wear a mask at any time. Lastly, please make sure costumes are elementary age appropriate.
Before I go, I want to thank those parents and grandparents who answered the call for additional watch dogs! We really appreciate all of our watch dogs and are still interested in recruiting more volunteers if your schedule allows.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at school!

Kindergarten Field Trip: Friday, October 27th
Please see the presentation below for details on the book character pumpkin contest. We can't wait to see all of the amazing ideas that you have. Each grade has a winner and an honorable mention!
Bring your pumpkins into the Library from October 23rd - October 27th.
Halloween Parade: The Halloween parade will be outside in the bus loop, weather permitting. If weather is too wet and spooky, we will use the caferteria and gym for an indoor parade. Classes will be called down by grade level. Look for your grade level location on marked cones.
Alternative Party: The SPED team will be offering an alternative party for students who need a calmer celebration. You can let them know in advance or call Sarah/Jill's room to have one of the SPED team members come to pick up a student at any time during the class parties. The alternative party is available for any student!
The book character pumpkin decorating contest is in full swing, see above for details.
Schedule: Coach has put together a schedule for AMPS, parade and parties.
Our 5th Graders will be selling Hall-o-grams at school the week before Halloween to raise funds for their 5th Grade Legacy Project! What are Hall-o-grams? They are fun, friendly greetings for friends and Wilmot staff that cost $1 each and include a squishy toy! Our 5th graders will deliver Hall-o-grams to classrooms during the Halloween parties at school.
You can also buy your Hall-o-grams online here - https://wilmot.memberhub.com/store/items/930456.
The 5th Grade Legacy Project is a special Wilmot tradition in which the current 5th grade class works to raise money to fund a project that will leave a positive “legacy” at the school. Some examples of previous legacy projects are the ever-popular Gaga Ball pit, the beautiful rockscaping behind the school that replaced the “mud pit”, and the mural wall near the basketball courts. This year’s project is dependent on how much the 5th graders earn through Hall-o-gram sales this coming week and Val-o-gram sales in February. They have big dreams and greatly appreciate your support!
Thank you for supporting our 5th graders as they work hard to leave a legacy at Wilmot!
Our next project will be our annual coat drive for Coats for Colorado from October 19-November 30. Coats will be collected in bins under the CATs bulletin board in the front hall. They will be periodically taken to Dependable Cleaners in Bergen, where they will be cleaned and given to families in need. We will keep a running tally of our total number of coats collected. Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep kids and families warm this winter!
Calling all Watch D.O.G.S.! We are SO thankful to all of our wonderful Watch D.O.G. volunteers that help with drop-off and pick-up every day. These volunteers play a vital role in keeping traffic flowing smoothly and kiddos safe in the cross walks. Please consider signing up for shifts in support of our students. This is a wonderful way to get to know our community and get involved with your kiddos.
