Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you have enjoyed the surprise long weekend! Due to the snow day on Friday, we have a couple of schedule changes for this week. Science Fair projects will need to be moved into the library and hallway tomorrow morning so Coach can hold PE classes in the gym. Some parents have volunteered to help move projects, but I know they would appreciate having additional people to help if your schedule allows. The viewing planned for Friday will be carried over to Monday. All students should plan to take their project home at the end of the day on Monday.
I want to celebrate the work of our students who entered the PTA Reflections competition last fall. Two of our students were recognized at the state competition. Congratulations to Naomi Sloan who won gold for her Literature submission, Something Amazing, and Sophie Martin won silver for her Film Production submission, The Play Date! Best of luck to Naomi whose submission will go on to compete at the national level.
This week we have spring picture day on Wednesday, many after school activities including Wilmot Warblers, Destination Imagination, Robotics/STEM clubs, and chess club, as well as report cards coming home on Friday. You can check out the Wilmot Weekly to learn more about the many enrichment opportunities at Wilmot and how to get your child involved.
I have some really exciting news to share about a new joint project between Evergreen Parks and Rec and Jeffco Open Space! They will be creating a new parking area and developing grass fields at Wilmot before school starts in the fall! There is a picture of the project if you scroll down in the Wilmot Weekly. The first phase of the plan is to create parking where the current upper grass field is located. At some point over the next few weeks, they will block off the softball fields and put rock down on the upper field to create parking. They also plan to level and put rock down in the garden lot to minimize the mud. Once the parking is established, they will begin work on installing the grass on the current softball field. I am so excited about the prospect of having grass for our kids to play on at recess instead of dirt and having additional field space for youth sports in our community will be wonderful as well!
Lastly, like many of our neighboring schools, we are still in outbreak status for the flu. Please do not send your child to school if they are experiencing or have experienced a fever, headache, cough, vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours. We are hoping that with your support, we can keep as many germs as possible out of the building and allow students and staff to get healthy again! If you have questions about How Sick is too Sick? please scroll down to the flyer in the Weekly.
Thank you for being a part of the Wilmot Wildcats family! I look forward to seeing you at school this week!

Do you plan to volunteer at Wilmot, chaperone one of our filed trips, and/or be a guest reader? Please take a moment to fill out the Jeffco Person of Interest and Disclosure forms below. Forms and the $17.50 payment can be returned to Mrs. Allen in the main office.
Our middle school colleagues, who will be taking our current class of 5th graders to Outdoor Lab, need your help to win $1,000 from the Outdoor Lab Foundation. If our articulation area can add 24 of people to the Lab Card Program, the sixth-grade teachers will be entered to win one of five $1,000 prizes to be used for next year’s Outdoor Lab trip.
The Lab Card Program supports tuition assistance to ensure every sixth-grade student, regardless of financial capacity, can attend Outdoor Lab. To join the program, you simply need to link your King Sooper’s shopper’s card to the Outdoor Lab Foundation through the King Soopers Community Rewards Program. Visit the Foundation's website to find instructions. It takes about 3 minutes.
Once enrolled, any purchase moving forward with your Shopper’s Card will allocate a portion of King Soopers’s annual donation to the Outdoor Lab Foundation. The more people participating on behalf of the Outdoor Lab Foundation, the more money they can provide in tuition assistance to our students.
This is not only important for our families so that they can offset or eliminate a financial burden, but it is also important to your colleagues. This money can be used for various purposes such as booking engaging evening presenters for the students, paying for a sub day for lead teacher Outdoor Lab planning, buying supplies, etc.
Please take a few minutes to enroll yourself in the Lab Card Program and spread the word!
Evergreen Parks and Rec is collaborating with Jeffco Open Space to change the fields behind Wilmot. The work is slated to be completed before the start of school in the fall. It will be wonderful for our kids to play on grass during recess and to have additional space for youth sports in the Evergreen community!
Navigating Social Media and Mental Health at Home: A Workshop for Parents and Caregivers
There is growing concern about social media’s impact on youth. The Surgeon General recently issued an advisory to the public about its potential risks to youth mental health. However, families often report challenges navigating social media with their youth.
Jeffco Public Schools, in partnership with Partners for Children’s Mental Health at Children’s Hospital Colorado, is hosting a virtual workshop that will explore the potential effects and signs of concern around social media use. Families that attend will receive a template for developing a social media plan with their youth and tips for navigating discussions around digital wellness.
Wednesday, February 26 | Noon – 1 p.m

The virtual meeting link will be shared via email and on this website closer to the session date.
Due to Jefferson County experiencing an uptick in Norovirus and GI illnesses, we are sharing our "How sick is too sick" guidelines with our community. Please see the link below.
Per Colorado Board of Health rule 6 CCR 1009-2, schools and child cares are required to directly distribute the Annual Immunization Compliance Parent Letter to the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of every enrolled student. We must distribute one letter for K-5 and one for Preschool. Please find both letters linked below.
Round 2 of Open Enrollment for the 25-26 school year opened Thursday, January 23rd. Initial Round 1 lottery results were sent to families last week. Please reach out to the main office with any questions you have about enrollment for next year.
Visit www.enrolljeffco.org to let us know that you’re coming back for the 2025-26 school year. The earlier we know, the easier it is for the district to provide our school with all the tools and resources we need to provide a thriving experience for our students.
