Wilmot Gardens
Tower
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you’ve enjoyed time with friends and family this spring break! It’s hard to believe it’s almost April and we are approaching the end of the school year. Tomorrow, Monday, March 24th is a professional learning day for teachers and other school staff. We welcome students back bright and early Tuesday morning.
Coming up later this week on Thursday is the Young Writers Conference at Marshdale at 6:00pm. On Friday 4/4 is the Silent Auction and Spring Dance. Our fundraising focus for the Silent Auction is a permanent shade structure on the playground. We’ve tried to make do with temporary covers, but the wind is so powerful that we cannot keep them in one place or in good condition for even one season!
Beginning on Monday, April 7th, our 3rd through 5th graders will be taking the state standardized tests, the Colorado Measures of Academic Success. The state requires that we cover anything on the walls that might help students with the content so we plan to make the most of that space. Please come in and write notes of encouragement to your child and their class. Butcher paper and markers will be available outside of your child’s classroom from 7:20-8:00 and from 2:35-3:00 on Thursday, April 3rd and Friday, April 4th. Students in kindergarten through second grade are also going to draw pictures and write messages to their older study buddies, encouraging them to persevere and do their best. Please help your child do their best by ensuring they get plenty of rest and have a good breakfast each day. We also ask parents to avoid absences except for illness during the three week testing period from Monday, April 7th through Thursday, April 24th.
You likely received a communication from West Transportation regarding the use of the bus loop for cars. It is difficult for buses to navigate and see around cars that park in the bus loop. Cars should use the parking lot/car line to drop students off between 7:20 and 7:40 when our buses need access to the bus loop. If you arrive at 7:40 or after and there are no buses in the loop, it is okay to pull in. In the afternoon, you may use the bus loop until 2:00 pm. After that, please plan to park in the regular lot or garden lot to pick up your child. Thank you for helping us keep kids safe and our bus drivers happy!
Lastly, I want to share some security upgrades that will be installed at Wilmot this spring. We are adding multiple cameras that will allow us to see the outside of the building more clearly. This includes the installation of a new camera by the front door that will give us an unobstructed view of people requesting entry into the building. In addition to the physical space, the district is investing in a guest management system for all schools. Unfortunately, this will not take the place of the tiered background check system that many of you have filled out over the past couple of months. Those forms must be completed each school year for parents or grandparents who want to volunteer in the school or for field trips.
Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Wilmot Wildcats family! I look forward to seeing you at school this week.

Monday, March 24th is a Teacher Work Day. We hope you had a wonderful Spring Break. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 25th.
Hello families! We are ready for another round of art club! The sign up was released in the evening of March 16. Take a peek at the website to see the schedule and what we are making! There will be no 4th and 5th grade club as I am leading a mural club for the 5th grade legacy project during that time.
Hi families! The art room is looking for pinecone donations! If you are able, please search your yard for pinecones and fill up a bag for the art room! If you are feeling extra generous, I'd love help with chopping the pinecone into thirds, using a lopper, like the picture above. This can be done at home, or you're welcome to contact me and we can organize a cutting party in the art room! Thanks for any help you can provide.
Join us for an inspiring evening at the Young Writers Conference, Thursday, March 27th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Marshdale Elementary! We're thrilled to connect with young authors and celebrate their creativity. And here's a delicious bonus: our generous friends at Marshdale Burger are supporting us! Enjoy a fantastic meal on March 27th or 28th, and a portion of your purchase will directly benefit the conference. Simply mention "Young Writers" when you order. Whether it's a pre-conference dinner, a post-event treat, or a convenient Friday night meal, Marshdale Burger is the perfect choice. A huge thank you to Marshdale Burger for their wonderful support!
Dear Incoming 6th Grade Families,
We are thrilled to welcome you and your child to Evergreen Middle School. We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth.
One of the exciting elective options available to our 6th-grade students is the opportunity to participate in our band or orchestra program. These are year-long electives designed to introduce students to the joy of making music and developing their musical skills. In addition to band and orchestra, 6th-grade students will also participate in semester-long elective courses. These semester electives will be assigned randomly to provide a diverse range of experiences throughout the year and their middle school journey.
We need your help to plan for next year's music programs.
If your child is interested in joining band or orchestra, please complete this Google Form by March 14th. This will help us determine student interest and plan accordingly. If your child is unsure but might be interested please complete the form and select “maybe”. We will follow up with you in May to confirm your child’s choice.
Please speak with your child before completing the form, they may have completed the form after the EMS band/orchestra visited their school. This email is a follow-up to families to make sure we did not miss any students who may have not had the chance to complete the form during school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our counselors, Scott Major (last names A-K) or Merrie Wrinn (last names L-Z)

We look forward to seeing your child in our classrooms and potentially in our music programs next year!
Sincerely,
The Evergreen Middle School Team
Evergreen Parks and Rec is collaborating with Jeffco Open Space to change the fields behind Wilmot. Work on the parking lot is scheduled to begin on Monday 3/10. During this initial phase, they will be:
Removing roughly 20’ of chain-link fencing between the parking lot and current dirt road.
Installing temporary curb ramps to help accommodate for two way traffic over the current sidewalk/parking lot curb until a more permanent solution is established.
Expanding the width of the dirt road to allow for two way traffic.
Creating and establishing an entrance/exit to the new parking area.
Installing a median and signage within the parking area to establish a flow of traffic.
Once this work is complete, they will let us know next steps, including when the parking area will be ready for us to use.

Let’s keep the Wildcat spirit going strong! 🐾 Who will be our top volunteers and earn a reward for their child/grandchild? Will a new Wildcat rise to the challenge? Let’s find out! 😺
Thank you for everything you do to keep our Wilmot community thriving!
Stay wild, stay wonderful!

Do you plan to volunteer at Wilmot, chaperone one of our filed trips, and/or be a guest reader? Please take a moment to fill out the Jeffco Person of Interest and Disclosure forms below. Forms and the $17.50 payment can be returned to Mrs. Allen in the main office.
Our middle school colleagues, who will be taking our current class of 5th graders to Outdoor Lab, need your help to win $1,000 from the Outdoor Lab Foundation. If our articulation area can add 24 of people to the Lab Card Program, the sixth-grade teachers will be entered to win one of five $1,000 prizes to be used for next year’s Outdoor Lab trip.
The Lab Card Program supports tuition assistance to ensure every sixth-grade student, regardless of financial capacity, can attend Outdoor Lab. To join the program, you simply need to link your King Sooper’s shopper’s card to the Outdoor Lab Foundation through the King Soopers Community Rewards Program. Visit the Foundation's website to find instructions. It takes about 3 minutes.
Once enrolled, any purchase moving forward with your Shopper’s Card will allocate a portion of King Soopers’s annual donation to the Outdoor Lab Foundation. The more people participating on behalf of the Outdoor Lab Foundation, the more money they can provide in tuition assistance to our students.
This is not only important for our families so that they can offset or eliminate a financial burden, but it is also important to your colleagues. This money can be used for various purposes such as booking engaging evening presenters for the students, paying for a sub day for lead teacher Outdoor Lab planning, buying supplies, etc.
Please take a few minutes to enroll yourself in the Lab Card Program and spread the word!

Round 2 of Open Enrollment for the 25-26 school year opened Thursday, January 23rd. Initial Round 1 lottery results were sent to families last week. Please reach out to the main office with any questions you have about enrollment for next year.
Visit www.enrolljeffco.org to let us know that you’re coming back for the 2025-26 school year. The earlier we know, the easier it is for the district to provide our school with all the tools and resources we need to provide a thriving experience for our students.
