Kinder Tree Ceremony
Skate City STEM Field Trip
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
Happy last week of school! Thanks to our generous PTA, every kindergarten through 5th grader received a free book on Friday and our preschoolers will receive a book after their continuation to kick off what we hope will be a summer of reading. On Tuesday of this week, we’ll be having a whole school kindness dance/ party AND handing out the books students earned through the Book Blast. If your child will be receiving books through the Book Blast, please consider sending in a reusable bag for them to bring the books home in case they don't fit in their backpack. There are also a ton of other events including hikes, field trips, and continuations. Please check out the rest of the Weekly so you don’t miss anything. The last day of school is on Friday, May 24th and students will be dismissed at 12:05.
As you likely heard from your child’s teacher, Jeffco Public Schools has directed all elementary schools to send home each first grade through 5th grade student's Chromebook home over the summer. This is an effort to ensure equitable access to online educational programs over the summer break. It is particularly important for students in the following situations to have access to their device:
They are on a READ plan and will attend the Jeffco Reads summer program.
They will access LEXIA reading program through the summer on their device. The district has provided access for all kindergarten and 1st graders, and for 2nd and 3rd graders who are on a READ plan. This program is accessible through the end of July from any device as long as your child has their login information.
They will access MAP Accelerator over the summer on their device. The district has provided access for all 3rd through 5th grade students. This program is accessible through the end of July from any device as long as your child has their login information.
5th grade students who will be taking their device to middle school with them in August.
We also understand that some parents would prefer their child leave the device at school for the summer. You can let us know if you DO NOT want your child to have their device. In those cases we will keep it safe and ready for them to use next fall. Please be aware that your child will be responsible for the care of the device and the charging cord. If the cord is damaged or broken, you will be charged for the cost of replacement. Please take a moment to let us know your perspective in this Google form: Summer Technology Access.
Looking ahead to next school year, we will have several positions available beginning in August. Two positions are Early Childhood Instructional Partners working with our preschool students. One of these positions is part time (M-F 9:00-1:00) and the other is full time (M-F 7:30-3:30) and eligible for paid benefits. We also have an opening for a para position working primarily with our kindergarteners. The person in this position will be in the building during the school day and is eligible for paid benefits. Please email me or Carly Allen at carly.allen@jeffco.k12.co.us if you have questions about any of these positions.
Please follow this link to see a list of programs you may find helpful this summer: Wilmot Summer Resources. When you’re in the building this week, please take a few minutes to check through the large amount of lost and found items just inside the front doors. Anything that is not claimed by the last day of school will be donated to charity. Please take a moment to check out the Wilmot Weekly for other happenings at school and around the community this week and through the summer.
I look forward to seeing you at school!

It is time to get ready for SUMMER BREAK!
If your student has medication in the health room, the Jeffco District Board Policy JLCD, states:
Unused medication: It is the responsibility of the parent to obtain all unused medication from the school when the medication is expired, discontinued, the school year ends, or the family transfers to another district. All medication left in the school under these circumstances will be disposed of using district guidelines and monitoring by the district RN.
This includes all prescription and over-the counter medications including but not limited to: cough drops, cough syrup, Tylenol, EpiPen (Do not pick up before 5/24), Inhaler (Do not pick up before 5/24), insulin, and any other injectable medications.
If you, as the parent, are not able to pick-up the medication in person, please call your district RN to discuss alternative arrangements.
If your child will be in summer school (JReads or ESY) this summer, please pick up the medication as noted above; the current medication agreement form will be copied and put in a Ziploc along with the medication. You will need to bring this Ziploc bag to your child’s first day of summer school at the site he/she is attending and check it in with the health aide.
Please pick up ALL medications by the last day of school which is May 24, 2024. All medications not picked up by the end of the school day on May 24th will be disposed of according to Jeffco policy. If you have any questions feel free to call Miss Joni in the office.
Also attached are Jeffco’s standard blank health forms. Please choose the appropriate one(s) for your student(s) and provide to your physician to complete over the summer for the 2024/25 school year. These forms can also be found on the school website: https://wilmot.jeffcopublicschools.org/family_resources/clinic_and_health_services
Thank you and have a good summer!

Jeffco Public Schools has adopted a new math resource for our kindergarten through 12th grade students. For many years, children in the United States have lagged behind children in other countries in math achievement. Research about the way other countries teach math has given us a window into why. Countries that consistently outperform the US emphasize conceptual understanding over rote memorization. In addition, struggling is not seen as a failure, but a path to deeper understanding. Illustrative Math grew out of what researchers learned about how other countries successfully teach mathematics. We understand that making this shift feels uncomfortable to parents (and teachers) who themselves learned math through memorization and repetition, but we believe this is a worthwhile change that will lead to deeper understanding and better outcomes for our children. To help parents better understand the change and support their children, we've included several online resources here. The videos are especially helpful! Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have additional questions or for more links to grade-specific resources.
Crest Robotics & Coding is growing! We are looking to add a robotics and coding Coach to our Evergreen team next Fall. This is a part-time, after school enrichment position two to three days each week. Share the excitement of robotics and coding with young minds (K-5) and have fun doing it! If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out to Wilmot's Coach, Sarah Aller, to learn more. She can be reached at sarah@crestcomputing.com. No prior coding experience needed.
Concert date: Thursday, may 23 at 7:30 pm
Location: central Presbyterian church
The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra has once again extended a special ticket pricing to our community for their May 23 concert! (discount code: CONIFER)
We had several families take advantage of this discount earlier this year and welcome everyone to check out an exceptional orchestra in our area.
Mr. Weedman regularly performs with the DPO and one of our band parents, responsible for getting the discount, also performs with the group.
These are top notch musicians and high-quality concerts. I recommend checking them out!
