Spelling Bee
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful snowy weekend! This week at Wilmot we have Advanced Band and Advanced Orchestra rehearsals and concerts. We also have the Mountain Area Spelling Bee at 4:30 on Wednesday afternoon at Evergreen Middle School. Congratulations to all of the participants and to the two 5th graders, two 4th graders, and one 3rd grader who will be representing Wilmot at the Mountain Area Bee!
Parent teacher conferences are coming up the week of February 12th. Please follow this link to sign up for your time: Parent Teacher Conference Sign-up. We really appreciate the opportunity to partner with you in support of your child’s education!
I’ve mentioned this for the past couple of weeks, but if you haven’t already filled out the Panorama Parent Survey, please consider taking just a few minutes to let us know what we are doing well and where we can improve. Unfortunately, our current response rate is only 14.5%. We need a much higher response rate in order to yield statistically significant results and, of course, win the friendly competition with our neighboring schools!
Our 5th graders are going to be selling Val-o-grams starting this Wednesday. The Val-o-grams support their 5th grade legacy project and they are just a lot of fun! They will be available for purchase in person or via a link in the Wilmot Weekly.
I look forward to seeing you this week at school!

Hello Wonderful Wilmot Community,

We are looking for volunteers to bring in food the night of Monday February 12th - Thursday February 15th, breakfast treats Friday February 16th, as well as help with setup, and cleanup. So that there is a variety of food throughout the week, we thought it would be fun to do a specific theme each night.
Monday: Italian
Tuesday: Mexican
Wednesday: Your Favorite Dish (what do you love to make, what do your kiddos love to eat)
Thursday: Pizza will be purchased
Friday: While there is no school this day, this is a teacher work day and we thought it would be nice to provide sweets, drinks, and fruit.
To sign up, please click here. Thank you for supporting our Wonderful Wilmot teachers!
Thank you,
Jenny Sacks

Our 5th graders are selling Val-o-grams to fundraise for their 5th Grade Legacy Project benefitting the Wilmot library!
What is the 5th Grade Legacy Project? The 5th Grade Legacy Project is a special Wilmot tradition in which the current 5th grade class works to raise money to fund a project that will leave a positive “legacy” at the school. Some examples of previous legacy projects are the ever-popular Gaga Ball pit, the rockscaping behind the school that replaced the “mud pit”, and the beautiful mural wall near the basketball courts. This year’s project is exciting library upgrades and improvements that the entire school will enjoy for generations to come!
What are Val-o-grams? They are fun, friendly greetings for friends and Wilmot staff that cost $1 each and include an allergy-friendly treat! 5th graders will deliver Val-o-grams to classrooms during the Valentine's Day parties at school.
How do I purchase Val-o-grams? The 5th graders will be selling Val-o-grams in-person on the following days:
Wednesday, 2/7 before school
Thursday, 2/8 before school
Friday, 2/9 before and after school
Monday, 2/12 before school
Tuesday, 2/13 before school
You can also buy your Val-o-grams online here until NOON on Tuesday, 2/13 - https://wilmot.memberhub.com/store/items/978925

Jeffco Public Schools has adopted a new math resource for our kindergarten through 12th grade students. For many years, children in the United States have lagged behind children in other countries in math achievement. Research about the way other countries teach math has given us a window into why. Countries that consistently outperform the US emphasize conceptual understanding over rote memorization. In addition, struggling is not seen as a failure, but a path to deeper understanding. Illustrative Math grew out of what researchers learned about how other countries successfully teach mathematics. We understand that making this shift feels uncomfortable to parents (and teachers) who themselves learned math through memorization and repetition, but we believe this is a worthwhile change that will lead to deeper understanding and better outcomes for our children. To help parents better understand the change and support their children, we've included several online resources here. The videos are especially helpful! Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have additional questions or for more links to grade-specific resources.
