Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I want to start by giving a huge shout out to our PTA and the vendors, including our student entrepreneurs, for the wonderful craft market on Friday! The kids were so proud of the gifts they chose for family and friends for as little as a dollar or two. I think this will become a new Wilmot tradition!
This is a big week because Enroll Jeffco opens on Tuesday 12/6. It is so helpful when families enroll early as it allows us to do more accurate planning for budget, staffing, and resources. Preschool enrollment has a similar timeline, but will not take place through Enroll Jeffco because of the Universal Preschool Initiative. Please see below to learn more. If you know of anyone considering Wilmot for their child/children, please let them know we are happy to give tours and please pass along the importance of enrolling early.
This is a busy time of year for everyone! Between now and winter break, teachers will be administering mid-year assessments in reading and math. Teachers will have time on the two work days on 12/19 and 12/20 to analyze this information and plan instruction, including intervention and enrichment for all of our students. Advanced Band and Orchestra rehearsals and concerts are also this week. Please see below for more information.
If you did not see the email regarding Healthy and Equitable Start Times for the 2023-24 school year, please visit this link to learn more about the schedule for Wilmot and the other mountain area schools, as well as this link, Healthy and Equitable Start Times, to see the research that informed Jeffco and other metro district’s decisions to change start and end times for schools at every level. We realize these changes may create concerns about childcare and busing. We will be engaging with community partners to navigate the changes and find creative solutions. I will keep you updated about opportunities to provide input, as well as information from Jeffco and community partners about any decisions that are made.
Thank you!

Jeffco Public Schools will launch new healthy and equitable start and end times districtwide for the 2023-2024 school year.
The District’s goal is to align start and end times across all Jeffco schools to create consistency for our schools which equals equitable instruction for all students and increased student achievement.
In addition, research shows that healthy school start times (later start times for middle/high school students) result in improved student attendance and graduation rates, more students arriving at school on time, and better overall physical and emotional health.
Please take a moment to look through lost & found while you are at school. All items not claimed by Winter Break will be donated to Echo. Thanks!
Evaluation of a sick child must consider which diseases are currently circulating among students, staff, and the community. Known exposure to cases or an outbreak of a contagious disease (including but not limited to those listed here), even without a confirmed diagnosis, may necessitate more stringent return to school requirements.
During Colorado's ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, children and staff who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should receive testing, and follow the COVID-19 isolation guidance until testing is completed or if they test positive. If the individual tests negative for COVID-19, the individual should then follow the recommendations for their disease or symptoms using the below guidance. There are four main reasons to keep children and adults at home:
1. The child or staff is at risk of infecting others with COVID-19 or another contagious illness, either because of symptoms or recent close contact.
2. The child or staff member does not feel well enough to take part in usual activities. For example, a child is overly tired, fussy or will not stop crying.
3. A child needs more care than teachers and staff can give while still caring for the other children.
4. The child or staff member has symptoms or an illness is on this list, and staying home is required.
As Wilmot Elementary PTA, we enrich your child’s learning, support classroom teachers, and enhance the entire student body with innovative tools and technologies. To do this, we throw parties with a purpose, take traditions and create memories, raise money to make a difference and engage in programs that create powerful connections to the school. We are a team of parents who collaborate with school staff, working together to create a culture that celebrates our entire community. And it’s our unique mountain community where our neighbors are our teachers and our parents are their supporters that is the key to our success. So whether your child attends an event or joins a program, know that the PTA is here to make a difference for every child at Wilmot Elementary in Evergreen, Colorado.
Officer terms on the PTA are limited to 2 years and as such we will need a new President and Treasurer for the 2023-2024 and following school years.
The people in the current positions will still be parents at the school and available for help and questions.
Please contact wilmotpta@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about this.
The Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting our annual Santa Breakfast again. We have 4 dates this year and would love to have our community and Wilmot families join us.
