Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you and your family had a wonderful winter break! Though it seems like a long time ago, we had an amazing week before winter break, including our kindergarteners searching the halls for clues as to the whereabouts of the Gingerbread Man. He ran away just after baking when the kindergarteners opened the oven to check on his progress. I love, love, love this kindergarten tradition - the wonder and excitement in the children’s eyes is priceless!
Teachers really appreciated the two planning days on 12/19 and 12/20. We have a practice of engaging in facilitated activities for half of the day and reserving half of the day for teachers to plan with teammates or work in their classroom. On Monday, teachers spent time in facilitated, collaborative planning around our new literacy resource, EL Education. On Tuesday, we took an in-depth look at the mid-year data we collected and used that information to plan specific, targeted instruction for each of our students grounded in the Science of Reading and best practices for math instruction.
Students’ first day back to school is Thursday, January 5th. The following day, our 5th graders are headed down to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science bright and early in the morning. Coming up on the 16th, our Wilmot Warblers choir will be singing the National Anthem at the National Western Stock Show. It is quite an honor and will be an unforgettable experience for our kids!
I hope you have a wonderful last few days of break. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on the 5th!

Jeffco Public Schools will launch new healthy and equitable start and end times districtwide for the 2023-2024 school year.
The District’s goal is to align start and end times across all Jeffco schools to create consistency for our schools which equals equitable instruction for all students and increased student achievement.
In addition, research shows that healthy school start times (later start times for middle/high school students) result in improved student attendance and graduation rates, more students arriving at school on time, and better overall physical and emotional health.
Coach Sylvie received her heart rate monitors for PE Classes this week! She can't wait to put them to use during PE. Thanks PTA!!
