Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you're enjoying the long weekend and that it has provided a chance for everyone to rest and recover from the illnesses circulating. We are still in flu outbreak status, so please refer to the "How Sick is Too Sick?" guidelines when determining when your child is ready to return to school.
A big thank you to all the parents who contributed to the conference meals for our teachers! The school staff truly appreciated having dinner—and often lunch the next day—provided during the long hours we worked last week. The Valentine's Day parties on Thursday were also a great success. If you scroll down in the Weekly, you'll find some wonderful pictures of the kids handing out their Valentines and enjoying the day.
Next week may be short, but it will be busy! On Wednesday morning, we will conduct our spring safety drill, "Shelter in Place." An announcement will be made over the intercom signaling the need to shelter in place. Students will move to the lower level of the building and sit in the hallway, away from doors and windows. Teachers will ensure that all students are accounted for, and the drill will end once this is confirmed. This procedure is designed for situations like a tornado or other external threat. Please note that although the drill lasts only 15–20 minutes, no one will be allowed to enter or exit the building until all students are safely back in their classrooms.
The Science and Engineering Fair is coming up on Thursday and Friday. Students should bring their projects on Thursday morning and set them up in the gym. Judging will take place that morning. Classes will have the opportunity to view the projects on Thursday afternoon and Friday. Any projects not going to the Mountain Area Science Fair should be taken home by students on Friday afternoon.
Thank you for being a part of the Wilmot Wildcats family! I look forward to seeing students and families at school this week.

Using Panorama Education for these school culture surveys allows Jeffco to make comparisons to national data. Please take a moment to read the district letters below, detailing the process for both. The link to the family survey can be found within.

Do you plan to volunteer at Wilmot, chaperone one of our filed trips, and/or be a guest reader? Please take a moment to fill out the Jeffco Person of Interest and Disclosure forms below. Forms and the $17.50 payment can be returned to Mrs. Allen in the main office.
Our middle school colleagues, who will be taking our current class of 5th graders to Outdoor Lab, need your help to win $1,000 from the Outdoor Lab Foundation. If our articulation area can add 24 of people to the Lab Card Program, the sixth-grade teachers will be entered to win one of five $1,000 prizes to be used for next year’s Outdoor Lab trip.
The Lab Card Program supports tuition assistance to ensure every sixth-grade student, regardless of financial capacity, can attend Outdoor Lab. To join the program, you simply need to link your King Sooper’s shopper’s card to the Outdoor Lab Foundation through the King Soopers Community Rewards Program. Visit the Foundation's website to find instructions. It takes about 3 minutes.
Once enrolled, any purchase moving forward with your Shopper’s Card will allocate a portion of King Soopers’s annual donation to the Outdoor Lab Foundation. The more people participating on behalf of the Outdoor Lab Foundation, the more money they can provide in tuition assistance to our students.
This is not only important for our families so that they can offset or eliminate a financial burden, but it is also important to your colleagues. This money can be used for various purposes such as booking engaging evening presenters for the students, paying for a sub day for lead teacher Outdoor Lab planning, buying supplies, etc.
Please take a few minutes to enroll yourself in the Lab Card Program and spread the word!
Navigating Social Media and Mental Health at Home: A Workshop for Parents and Caregivers
There is growing concern about social media’s impact on youth. The Surgeon General recently issued an advisory to the public about its potential risks to youth mental health. However, families often report challenges navigating social media with their youth.
Jeffco Public Schools, in partnership with Partners for Children’s Mental Health at Children’s Hospital Colorado, is hosting a virtual workshop that will explore the potential effects and signs of concern around social media use. Families that attend will receive a template for developing a social media plan with their youth and tips for navigating discussions around digital wellness.
Wednesday, February 26 | Noon – 1 p.m
Learn More & Register: www.jps.click/socialmedia-workshop
The virtual meeting link will be shared via email and on this website closer to the session date.
Due to Jefferson County experiencing an uptick in Norovirus and GI illnesses, we are sharing our "How sick is too sick" guidelines with our community. Please see the link below.
Per Colorado Board of Health rule 6 CCR 1009-2, schools and child cares are required to directly distribute the Annual Immunization Compliance Parent Letter to the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of every enrolled student. We must distribute one letter for K-5 and one for Preschool. Please find both letters linked below.
Round 2 of Open Enrollment for the 25-26 school year opened Thursday, January 23rd. Initial Round 1 lottery results were sent to families last week. Please reach out to the main office with any questions you have about enrollment for next year.
Visit www.enrolljeffco.org to let us know that you’re coming back for the 2025-26 school year. The earlier we know, the easier it is for the district to provide our school with all the tools and resources we need to provide a thriving experience for our students.
