I am excited to share that Jefferson County (the county proper, not the school district) has received a grant to enhance the walkability of the area around Wilmot by adding sidewalks and crosswalks.  The project will happen over the summer.  I met with the engineers in charge of this project to discuss ways to enhance safety and the accessibility of the path for Wilmot students should we need to evacuate to Evergreen High School. Like all schools in Jeffco, Wilmot is required to do two safety drills in addition to our monthly fire drills.  In the fall we did a lockdown drill.  Coming up on Monday, February 27th, we will work with the Department of Safety and Security to do a Shelter in Place drill.  Although we don’t have many tornadoes up here, the procedure for this drill resembles that of a tornado drill.  We will gather in the lower part of the building, away from windows and doors.  It is short and doesn’t tend to make kids feel worried because we connect it to potential weather events.

• Mountain Area Science Fair - March 10th and 11th at Marshdale Elementary.  

• Growing and Changing 5th grade parent meeting - March 9th at 5:30.

• Report cards go home in Friday Folders - March 10th 

• 4th grade Colorado Characters presentations - March 16th at 6:00 and 7:00.

• Unclaimed Lost and Found items will be donated to charity on March 17th 

• No school for students - March 17th.

• Spring break for students - March 17th through March 26th 

New this year: Jeffco families will use Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program (UPK) application to enroll in preschool for the 2023-24 school year.
