Mtn. Area Spelling Bee!
Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
Welcome to February! I would like to congratulate the five Wilmot students who went to the Mountain Area Spelling Bee on Thursday. Our very own Cullen Dick in Mrs. Whitney’s 5th grade class took home the title of Spelling Bee Champion! Way to go, Cullen! He will now have the opportunity to enter the next phase of this competition.
Coming up this week, our 5th graders will be selling Valograms each morning from 8:45 to 9:10. Please see below for more information about this fun way to recognize your child on Valentine’s Day and to support the 5th grade legacy project. On Tuesday, we will send a link via email to the Sign-Up Genius for parent teacher conferences. PTA is always so thoughtful in providing meals for teachers on these late nights. The link to sign up to bring a dish is below. Thank you to the parents who have already signed up!
Please be sure to check out the information about the Wilmot Science and Engineering Fair coming up on February 22nd and 23rd. If you haven’t started your project, there is still time!
Please see below for a link to a Jeffco Family Survey. You can use the link to provide feedback now through Friday, March 3rd. The information you provide helps us know what we are doing well and where we can improve. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey! If you have questions about Wilmot or district resources, please visit the Important Links section at the bottom of the Parent Wilmot Weekly. There are links to the parent portal, school cafe, and Wilmot Family Calendar, as well as information about Parent Rights in schools, what to do if you have a concern, and safety and security information.
Lastly, I would like to ask for your help. Pokémon cards are becoming a problem at school. Please help your child remember to leave their Pokémon cards at home. They will not be allowed in class, at lunch, or at recess. The only exception to this is if your child’s teacher reaches out to you directly about a special earned party.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
Each year we choose a charity in our community to support during the week of Valentine's Day. This year we are supporting Evergreen Animal Protection League -EAPL. If your child/children would like to participate, please bring in one of these items between Monday 2/13 and Thursday 2/16: Dogs: slow feeders, medium and large harnesses, heavy duty/sturdy leashes, dog beds, used towels and blankets, toys of all shapes and sizes, canned food, puppy food, puppy pads, dog PJs with all four legs, baby gates (new or gently used), easy walkers/leaders. Cats: tent cozies, scratching posts, cat toys, and Dr. Elsie’s cat litter (available at Chow Down).
Dear Jeffco Public Schools Families,
We are committed to ensuring that your experience with us is collaborative, successful and helps your student(s) thrive.
Beginning this year, Panorama Education will be conducting our annual family survey to provide us with benchmarking against national norms. We encourage you to complete this survey about your experience with your student(s) school and if you have multiple students at various schools, complete one for each student. In addition, if you have one or more students at the same school, please take the survey thinking about your oldest student enrolled. Be sure to select the submit button at the end of the survey so your responses are captured.
The survey is anonymous and will take around 15–20 minutes to complete. Results will be used to improve our district and your student(s) learning environment. You can view previous survey results under the School Culture tab.
The survey opened, Monday, January 30 and closes on Friday, March 3. Click on or copy/paste this link into your browser: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/jeffco/family to complete the survey.
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback! Your voice is essential in identifying what is working well and what needs improvement as we deliver on our mission to provide a world-class education that prepares all Jeffco students for bright and successful futures. #BetterTogether
The Mountain Area Young Writers Conference is BACK! The event will be held March 30th from 6:30-8:30 at Marshdale Elementary. Students will need to create a piece of original writing before the event and then will be able to share their writing in a small group led by a mountain area teacher. Students can bring a short story, book, graphic novel, etc. During student share time, parents will have an opportunity to join in a parent learning session of their choice. Families will also have an opportunity to learn from our featured author, Jefferson Knapp. Thank you to our PTA for supporting this annual event! If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Area - kelly.area@jeffco.k12.co.us
