Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you are enjoying a fun weekend and had the opportunity to join the Holiday Walk on Friday. Last Thursday we took some time to recognize and celebrate the students who entered the PTA Reflections competition. As I have shared, the theme for this year was “I am hopeful because . . .” Thank you to all of the students who entered! I am always so impressed by the confidence and creativity of our Wilmot students!
Tuesday of this week is the opening of Enroll Jeffco for the 24-25 school year for all preschool through 12th grade students. We really appreciate when you complete enrollment early so we can more accurately predict our budget and plan appropriately for staffing. Please see the additional information below and reach out to Ms. Carrie in the office if you have questions or encounter difficulties. I’m excited to share that Wilmot will be offering a half day option for our preschoolers in the upcoming year! We appreciate your willingness to talk with friends and neighbors about Wilmot. Anyone interested in scheduling a personalized tour to learn more about our special community can contact Ms. Carrie in the office.
We have an assessment day coming up this Friday, December 8th. Teachers will use this time to collect state and district required middle-of-year data to gauge student progress and adjust instruction or interventions to meet student needs. Please follow this link to schedule an assessment for your child: Assessment Day Sign-up. Also this week is the Advanced Orchestra concert on Tuesday and the Advanced Band concert on Thursday, both at Conifer High School. On Thursday Evergreen High School is hosting the EHS Futures night to showcase the continuum of excellent educational opportunities in Evergreen. Please see the flyer below for more information.
Lastly, please spread the word that Wilmot is hiring! We have three positions currently available including two positions that support 1-2 individual students in the classroom, as well as a kindergarten para position. Unfortunately, Ms Dusatko, one of our beloved kindergarten paras, is moving out of state after the winter break. Each of these positions is between 6 and 7 hours per day and eligible for paid benefits. Please see the information and links below to find out more and apply to join our amazing school community!
I’m looking forward to seeing you at school!

Jeffco Public Schools has adopted a new math resource for our kindergarten through 12th grade students. For many years, children in the United States have lagged behind children in other countries in math achievement. Research about the way other countries teach math has given us a window into why. Countries that consistently outperform the US emphasize conceptual understanding over rote memorization. In addition, struggling is not seen as a failure, but a path to deeper understanding. Illustrative Math grew out of what researchers learned about how other countries successfully teach mathematics. We understand that making this shift feels uncomfortable to parents (and teachers) who themselves learned math through memorization and repetition, but we believe this is a worthwhile change that will lead to deeper understanding and better outcomes for our children. To help parents better understand the change and support their children, we've included several online resources here. The videos are especially helpful! Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have additional questions or for more links to grade-specific resources.
STEAM Club has begun a new session and still has spaces available! Join us to explore circuits and electronics in the Library after school on Thursdays.
Our lost and found bins are overflowing! Please take a moment when you are in the building to look through all of our items. The lost and found is located down near the cafeteria. Small items and jewelry are kept in the office. All items not claimed prior to Winter Break will be donated.
Please see this attached letter from our milk provider, Meadow Gold Dairies re: shortages we have been experiencing and will likely continue to experience into the holiday season. We will continue to keep school sites up to date as best we can as the situation evolves.
A big welcome from Evergreen High School with your pre-school and elementary families to our Futures Night on 12/7 at 5:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to see what Evergreen High School holds in store for each of these families, opportunities for learning and life experiences at EHS
