Hiwan Homestead Museum FT
Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend! If your schedule allows, please join a community conversation with Jeffco Public Schools Superintendent Tracy Dorland tomorrow from 5:30-7:00 at Evergreen High School. The superintendent will be discussing important issues in the district and in the Conifer and Evergreen communities. This one-hour conversation will be followed by a half-hour question and answer session. Please see the flier below for more information.
On Tuesday and Friday of this week we invite the parents of our kindergarten, first and second graders to come see your child’s music performance during their music time. They’ve been working really hard to put together a performance that showcases what they’ve learned in music this year! Please see the schedules for April 11th and 14th below. These programs will be recorded so you can see your child perform even if your work schedule will not allow you to attend the daytime performance in person. The evening performances for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students is on Friday, April 21st. Please see below for additional information.
While you're in the building, be sure to check out the amazing art that lines the walls and hangs from the ceiling in our main hallways. Mrs. Marcus is dedicated to helping our students find their inner artist by offering students voice and choice in the pieces they develop. She also works so hard to ensure our students have the opportunity to showcase their work through local art shows at the library and Shadow Mountain Gallery, as well as at the district wide art show. Thank you, Mrs. Marcus!
CMAS testing continues this week for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. We finished ELA sections this past week and next up is math. Like the English Language Arts assessments they took last week, math is divided into three sections, with one section given per day. This assessment is part of a body of evidence that demonstrates your child’s progress towards meeting the Colorado Academic Standards. You can help your child feel prepared and do their best by ensuring they get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.
Each spring we engage in a very deliberate and thoughtful process to determine classroom placements for next year. Classroom teachers, special education providers (if applicable), the specials (AMPs) team, paraprofessionals, and I consider each student individually, the dynamic of the classroom, and creating a balance of strengths and areas for growth across the classroom community. Parents are a valuable source of information in this process. If you would like to share information about your child’s strengths, areas for growth, and learning style, please fill out this form: Student Information 23-24. Responses will be accepted until April 21st.
Jeffco Early Learning is in the process of identifying the need to add additional preschool classes in the mountain area that offer a ½ day program. We have identified two possible locations that might work, Wilmot Elementary and West Jefferson Elementary.
To better understand the wants and needs of the community we ask that you complete a short survey by Tuesday, April 11th 2023.
We hope to have a decision finalized by April 14th so that all families can make informed decisions when the state sends UPK offers on April 26th, 2023.
If we decide to move forward and add additional classrooms, it is possible that the start date for any new classroom(s) may be delayed due to licensing restrictions. We will keep families updated as we move through this process. Thank you for your participation and patience.
Superintendent Tracy Dorland will be engaging in conversations with communities throughout Jeffco to discuss districtwide topics and those specific to each articulation area. The superintendent will be at Evergreen High School tomorrow, April 10th from 5:30-7:00pm. She will be joined by Rabbi Jamie Arnold.
These one-hour conversations are focused on family and community feedback and provide community members the opportunity to discuss important and current initiatives impacting Jeffco.
Conversations are open to the public. Families and community members are encouraged to attend the conversation within their articulation area.
CMAS Testing will continue next week through April 20th. Please read through this flyer for additional details.
Thank you for sending your students to school well rested and well fed on these days, ensuring that they are ready for success!

Parents or mental health providers at school can make the referral.
Hazel will reach out to parents within 48 hours of the referral
All services occur virtually
They do not offer family therapy
