Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
This upcoming week is a busy one! Each day this week we will be collecting items for Evergreen Animal Protective League as a part of our Love our Community celebration. Please see below for the list of items requested by EAPL. Teachers are looking forward to meeting with you to share your child’s progress during Parent Teacher Conferences this week. If you haven’t signed up yet, there is still time: Parent Teacher Conference Sign-up.
Tuesday is Valentine’s Day with parties happening at the end of the day from 2:30-3:30. If your child chooses to pass out Valentines, please make sure they have one for each student in their class. Valograms will also be delivered during the Valentine’s parties.
Please note that Friday, February 17th is a teacher work day so there is no school for students. Monday the 20th is also not a school day in observance of President’s Day. We also have a date change for the Wilmot Science and Engineering Fair. The dates are being moved from February 22nd and 23rd to March 1st and 2nd. Please see below for more information. The dates of the Mountain Area Science Fair remain March 10th and 11th at Marshdale Elementary.

Please join us for our Preschool Open House this Wednesday, February 15th from 4-6pm. Families will have an opportunity to tour our classrooms, meet our preschool staff, and ask any questions that they may have.

Each year we choose a charity in our community to support during the week of Valentine's Day. This year we are supporting Evergreen Animal Protection League -EAPL. If your child/children would like to participate, please bring in one of these items between Monday 2/13 and Thursday 2/16: Dogs: slow feeders, medium and large harnesses, heavy duty/sturdy leashes, dog beds, used towels and blankets, toys of all shapes and sizes, canned food, puppy food, puppy pads, dog PJs with all four legs, baby gates (new or gently used), easy walkers/leaders. Cats: tent cozies, scratching posts, cat toys, and Dr. Elsie’s cat litter (available at Chow Down).

As a fundraiser for our 5th grade classes, students sold Valograms last week. Valogram proceeds go toward the 5th grade Legacy Project for our school. Valograms will be delivered during our Love Our Community celebrations in class Tuesday afternoon.
Young writers conference
Young writers conference
The Mountain Area Young Writers Conference is BACK! The event will be held March 30th from 6:30-8:30 at Marshdale Elementary. Students will need to create a piece of original writing before the event and then will be able to share their writing in a small group led by a mountain area teacher. Students can bring a short story, book, graphic novel, etc. During student share time, parents will have an opportunity to join in a parent learning session of their choice. Families will also have an opportunity to learn from our featured author, Jefferson Knapp. Thank you to our PTA for supporting this annual event! Preschool enrollment Round 1 closes February 14th! Preschool enrollment through Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado and EnrollJeffco is currently taking place. The Round 1 application window closes midday on Tuesday, February 14. We highly encourage families to make sure their application is submitted before then. Round 2 of preschool enrollment will open shortly after Round 1 closes. Families can apply through Round 2 until August 31. Families should have received an email from the district Wednesday, February 8th, about preschool and other EnrollJeffco updates. Families can learn more about preschool on this webpage.
New this year: Jeffco families will use Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program (UPK) application to enroll in preschool for the 2023-24 school year.
Due to implementation of the new UPK application, families will wait until January 2023 to apply. This change is for preschool enrollment only. Visit this webpage to learn more.

Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up and we want to provide our Wonderful teachers with dinner each night. Please see the signup link below - we could use help with providing a home cooked food item or helping with clean up.

Join Wilmot at the Colorado Rapids game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park vs. LAFC on Saturday, April 1st at 7:30pm! The Rapids are bringing back their fundraising program for all Colorado elementary, middle, and high schools and $5 from every ticket sold will go directly back to our school’s PTA fundraising initiatives.
