District Art Show
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you’re having a wonderful, extended spring break! By the looks of this week’s forecast, we aren’t quite finished with snow. Please note that there is no school for students on Monday, April 25th. Teachers will be engaged in professional development and planning.
As you can see by the picture, our kindergarten students now have several picnic tables for snack time courtesy of our very own para, Ms. Tonia, and our local chapter of the American Legion. Ms. Tonia and other members of the American Legion delivered the tables and put them together with our kindergarten teachers over a weekend. The kids were so excited!
Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and other volunteers who have signed up to be a Watch Dog. If you haven’t had a chance yet, the Watch Dog contest will occur in April and May as well so there’s still time! Please send an email to wilmotwatchdogs@gmail.com if you would like access to the sign up. We will tally up the volunteers for March on Wednesday so we can see which grade level/s won the PJ/stuffy/popsicle party on Friday, March 29th. It looks like we will also enjoy another kindness jar dance party this week as well. On Monday I will choose a new group of students from the kindness jar to help with announcements this week.
There are a couple of events coming up after spring break that I would like to ensure are top of mind. The Young Writer’s Conference is on Thursday, March 28th at 6:30 pm at Marshdale Elementary. Then the following week is a really busy one! We have Talent Show rehearsal on Monday, April 1st, the Science Fair on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2nd and 3rd, Colorado Characters during the day and evening of April 4th, and the Talent Show during the day and evening of Friday the 5th.
Beginning the first week in April, students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will begin the Colorado Measures of Academic Success assessments. You can see the CMAS Schedule via the link, though small group and individual accommodations may be scheduled at other times. We appreciate your help ensuring your child is on time to school and avoids absences as much as possible. If your child needs to be absent from school due to illness, we will schedule a time for them to make up the assessments. Thank you for helping us get the CMAS testing completed with as little disruption to our classroom and building schedules as possible.
Please check out the Wilmot Weekly for other happenings this week. I look forward to seeing you at school this week!

Hello wonderful Wilmot families,
The Wilmot Talent Show 2024 is here! We can't wait to showcase all the amazing talents of Wilmot students. There are two different ways your student can participate.
The Live Talent Show is already FULL! Thanks to everyone who has already reached out to join us. There will be one dress rehearsal on April 1st from 1:15 to 2:15pm (NEW DATE) and two live performances on Friday, April 5th; one during the school day from 1:15-2:15 and one in the evening from 5:00-6:00pm. We can't wait to see you there!
The Wilmot Community Action Team are organizing a food drive for the month of March! The canned and boxed food that we collect will go to our friends and neighbors here in Evergreen. It will benefit the Evergreen Christian Outreach (EChO) food bank, and it will provide food for Wilmot families in need through the Mountain Backpacks program. We are lining the food up along the front hall. Our goal is to fill the entire front hallway with our donations. The food drive will end on March 28. Thank you for your support in helping our local community!

Jeffco Public Schools has adopted a new math resource for our kindergarten through 12th grade students. For many years, children in the United States have lagged behind children in other countries in math achievement. Research about the way other countries teach math has given us a window into why. Countries that consistently outperform the US emphasize conceptual understanding over rote memorization. In addition, struggling is not seen as a failure, but a path to deeper understanding. Illustrative Math grew out of what researchers learned about how other countries successfully teach mathematics. We understand that making this shift feels uncomfortable to parents (and teachers) who themselves learned math through memorization and repetition, but we believe this is a worthwhile change that will lead to deeper understanding and better outcomes for our children. To help parents better understand the change and support their children, we've included several online resources here. The videos are especially helpful! Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have additional questions or for more links to grade-specific resources.
We are re-sending this sign up genius as we are in need of some helpers to plan the Friendship Spring Dance. Please consider signing up to help make this event a success. If you have any questions, please let us know.
We also have a sign up for day of/party dance volunteers here
Volunteers are really needed to bring some fresh ideas to these events and your kids will appreciate it! To keep these events going on the PTA calendar each year we need volunteers and it doesn't have to be a major time commitment.
We have our annual spring dance and silent auction/business expo coming up. This year it will be on Friday April 19 from 4:30-7 and the theme is "Friendship". A save the date is attached.
We are looking for some helpers to plan the event and make it a success!!
Please consider signing up to help plan here.
There will be a separate sign up for "day of" party volunteers.
If you want to sign up and a slot is full, just email wilmotpta@gmail.com
Thank you!

Dear Wilmot,
We are ramping up planning for our Spring Silent Auction and schoolwide dance (more info on that soon to be announced!).
However, in the meantime we are canvassing the community for two things:
Donation of an item or service to auction off at the online silent auction
Businesses to buy a table to promote your business during the school dance at the business expo in the cafeteria. We offer a discount to school clubs and non-profits!
See attached letter for more information. Let us know if you are willing to help with a donation by emailing wilmotpta@gmail.com. Feel free to help us collect items for the auction as well by sharing this letter with your networks.
Thank you!
