Hello Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend full of beautiful weather and fun with your kids. It was so healing to have students back in the building. They often show us how to focus on the present and move forward with joy. In the wake of a tragedy, I am choosing to focus on the strength of our community and the people who have risen to meet our collective need for love and support. Thank you so much for your words and gestures of encouragement and thanks to our staff. They are truly appreciated! We also really appreciated having so many parents present for recess and lunch, and for the puppy party during recess on Wednesday!
Our students, especially the fifth graders, have been eagerly waiting for us to announce the new date for Field Day. We’ve settled on Friday, September 26th! To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ve requested support from Jeffco Safety and Security for the entire day. Parents are encouraged to attend to cheer on the kids and join in the fun during the grade-level events and the final tug-of-war. We've included a link to the original Sign-Up Genius in this week's newsletter. If you initially signed up to volunteer but the new date doesn't work for your schedule, please remove your name so another parent can sign up. Ms. Holtmann is also looking for donations of sidewalk chalk.
We are so grateful for the additional mental health support available to both students and staff this past week. We continue to assess needs daily to ensure we have a plan in place for the following day. If your child is struggling as a result of the tragedy, please let their teacher or me know so we can connect them with a mental health provider. Families can also access support from a variety of sources. Please take a look at these valuable links: Resources for the Jeffco Community, Joint statement regarding school safety.
As I shared last week, it's important for us to learn from every emergency situation—to see what went well and identify areas where we can improve. If you have feedback, questions, or ideas you’d like to share, please fill out our Wilmot Community: Questions, Feedback & Ideas google form by the end of this week.
Sincerely,
Stephany Fritz
Principal, Wilmot Elementary
Lunch & Recess: We will continue to welcome parents at lunch and recess if your schedule allows. Please remember to check in at the office before you make your way to the cafeteria or playground. Thank you!
Evergreen High School PTSA has received an incredible response from our community, asking how to help. We designed a way students from other schools can have a direct impact on the wellbeing of EHS students.
Our PTSA worked closely with EHS staff to curate a list of "comfort items" for counselors and other staff to have accessible on a daily basis. We have separate plans for staff, who will receive strong support in similar ways. The link below is to an Amazon list for donors to choose items. It also ensures packages are coming a designated address for PTSA to prep for distribution. Note: The Evergreen High School building is not currently able to accept packages. Please use the address in the Amazon list.
Additionally, if any students would like to create general pictures or notes of encouragement to be shared when EHS students return to school please email them to victoriahutchen@hotmail.com Our hearts are full for our staff and students, and for the amazing community support. Thank you.

Please join us for our rescheduled Field Day this Friday, September 26th.
Our kindergarten classrooms are experiencing a larger than normal amount of clothing changes during the day. They are in need of underwear, socks and pants donation. If you have items to clean out of your kiddos closets for donation, we would be happy to put them to use. Please bring any donations you have to our kinder teachers next week.
Art Club and Passion Project Club are starting soon. Check out Mrs. Marcus' website to learn more.
Picture re-takes will be held on October 15th. If you would like to have your child's photo taken again on that date, time will be available during class.

It’s time for our annual food drive to support our friends and neighbors. The Wilmot Community Action Team (CATs) will be collecting food for the Mountain Backpack program, and for Evergreen Christian Outreach, known as EChO. Just like we’ve done for the last few years, please put your canned and boxed food in the boxes in the hallways under the CATS bulletin board. Let’s see if we can fill all the boxes with our generous donations! We will be collecting food until September 30th. Thank you!!

Thank you for helping make Wilmot such a safe and welcoming place for our students!
The Wilmot community works together to ensure high levels of learning for all. This includes not only being attentive to academic growth but also recognizing that the social and emotional growth of students is critically important. Current research indicates a direct connection between students’ emotional well-being and their academic performance. We are dedicated to creating academic and social-emotional support linked directly to the assessed needs of our students. We now have the opportunity to systematically screen the social and emotional skills of all our students. We will be using the Social Skills Improvement System™ Social-Emotional Learning Edition Screening/Progress Monitoring Scales (SSIS SEL) to screen students' social-emotional competencies.
SSIS SEL Information: The SSIS SEL Edition Screening/Progress Monitoring Scales is a strength-based tool for screening and progress monitoring social and emotional competence. Teachers will be asked to score each student in their class in the five following areas: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
Screening Windows: There are two scheduled screening windows for the 2025-2026 school year: September 16, 2025 thru October 7, 2025 and January 5, 2026 thru January 30, 2026. There will be an additional optional window at the end of the school year for Preschool and Fifth grade students to assist with transitions.
CMAS SCORES: Families can now view their 2024-2025 CMAS scores via Student Insights. Paper copies will be sent home on Friday, Septemeber 12th.
Student Insights is a resourceful tool for K-12 families and students in grades 6-12 to view current and historical assessment data and plans that are applicable to your student.
2024-25 CMAS student score reports are now available electronically in Student Insights. Our school will also be sharing paper reports with families on Friday, September 17th via paper.
