Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you had a great time at Bandana Day on Friday. We couldn’t have asked for a better evening for our school carnival. I want to recognize all of the time and hard work our PTA invested in making Bandana Day a fun, community-building event. Thank you to all of our Bandana Day volunteers!
Tuesday, October 1st is the official Count Day for students in Colorado. School funding in Colorado is based on how many students are in attendance for a 10 day period around the beginning of October. The number of students in attendance during the “count window” determines Wilmot’s budget for staff, programs, and materials. Please help us ensure an accurate count/funding by having your child arrive on time and maintain good attendance. If your child is sick and cannot come to school, please make sure to call in their absence so we have the correct documentation.
There are also a number of fun events coming up in the next couple of weeks, including a discount day for Wilmot families on 10/3 at Storm Glass Coffee, the Fun Run kick off and run date on 10/10, and the Book Fair from 10/7 through 10/15. Please check out the information below to learn more about these and other opportunities.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing you at school this week!
Stephany Fritz
Principal, Wilmot Elementary
October Count Day is THIS Tuesday, October 1st.
The most important action you can take to support school funding is to make sure your student attends school on that day. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to make sure your student comes to school that day.
The “count window” the state observes is from Tuesday, September 24 through Tuesday, October 8, but the most important student count day is Tuesday, October 1. Help us get an accurate count by having your student participate in learning that day.
If your student will be absent this Tuesday, October 1 due to illness, please call our attendance line, 303-982-5367 to report the absence. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on Tuesday, October 1.
Thank you for your support of Wilmot Elementary. Every student counts!
We have an exciting opportunity to hear student voices. Stephany and Katie have started inviting random students to have lunch with them while they talk about celebrations and concerns. Students share their favorite parts of their school day and any struggles they might be experiencing. They will also be invited to talk about their ideas on how to make Wilmot even more Wonderful.
We have another fast-approaching performance for our Warblers on Tuesday, October 1st at Evergreen High School.
Here is the schedule:
(NO after school rehearsal from 2:30-3:30)
5 PM Drop off Warblers at Evergreen High School Auditorium
5-6 PM Rehearsal on stage
6-6:45 PM Dinner and T-shirt change (food allergies please bring packed lunch)
7-8 PM Performance for families/community
We are singing One Call Away by ourselves and Lava with all the choirs. For Lava, we sing all the choruses and the first verse. This performance has come quickly so practicing Lava at home would be appreciated! T-shirts are being provided for the festival so comfortable clothing and singer's preference.
We are also looking for some parent helpers for the choir festival and for future after-school rehearsals. When Holly and I happen to have choir alone (which is often), it has been challenging to manage behaviors while accompanying and conducting all at the same time. Holly and I appreciate your help!

Please let us know if you have any questions and looking forward to another amazing performance.

Hello - 5th and 4th grade parents!
Your student participated in a digital breakout box experience last week introducing the Jeffco Battle of the Books competition. We are so proud and excited to be able to offer the optional but awesome experience for our 4th & 5th graders! Battle of the Books is a great way to get kids engaged with reading, collaborating with teammates, and participating in healthy competition where they can learn important sportsmanship skills and have a blast!
Please read through the information below and discuss this incredible opportunity with your child. We can't wait to get teams formed and start reading these amazing titles! Thank you, Mrs. Mihalik

Our Run4Funds Fundraiser assembly kick-off is just around the corner, on Friday, October 4th, and the run is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we need your help to make it successful!
We are asking each student to set a fundraising goal of $100 in order to reach our $30,000 school fundraising goal.
What is the Run4Funds?
The Run4Funds is an all-school fun-run and fundraiser. On run day, students will run as many laps as possible in 30 minutes around a 1/16th mile track. Students will run with only their grade level, and most students will complete about 25-30 laps. This is a really fun day for the kids - we’ll have a DJ playing fun music and parents are invited to cheer on their kids. Prior to the run, students will request donations from family and friends, as either a dollar amount per lap or a flat donation. Students compete on an individual and class level to earn rewards based on how many laps they run and how much money they raise.
What You Can Do Now:
Save the date to cheer on your student(s): Thursday, October 10th
(day-of run schedule will be sent out shortly)
Take a tour around our custom fundraising website and familiarize yourself with the event, the donations section, prizes, and more.
Note: you’ll use your fundraising website to send emails to potential donors, collect online donations and track your fundraising progress.
Start thinking about who you can ask to support your student(s): family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc., and help your student(s) send out informational/donation request emails when the fundraiser kicks-off next week.
Schedule of Events
Virtual Kickoff Assembly: Friday, October 4th
Email Campaign due by 5pm: Tuesday, October 8th
Early Bird Donations due by 5pm: Wednesday, October 9th
Run Day: Thursday, October 10th
All Donations due: Monday, October 21st

Conferences will be held the week of October 14th-17th. Thursday, October 17th is the start of fall break for students, but teachers will be offering conference times until 11:00 am. We will have the sign-up out to families next Sunday so that you can find a time that works best for you.
Does your student ride the bus to Wilmot? Look for an email invitation from the Jeffco Transportation team for Stopfinder. What is Stopfinder? It is the all-in-one, easy-to-use app for viewing and sharing your student’s transportation schedule and peace of mind. Visit the Stopfinder webpage to learn more!
The Stopfinder app will activate for Wilmot families on September 30th!
Wilmot Community Action Team is in full swing with their first project! They will be collecting water bottles that will be washed and distributed to families who get their groceries from Joy's Kitchen. This is a food rescue organization that donates excess food from supermarkets to those most in need in Denver. You can learn more about it using the link below.

We have some exciting news to share about our Watch D.O.G. program!
Program Name Change
We're updating the name from Watch D.O.G.S. to Wildcat Watch. This new name better reflects our inclusive community and aligns perfectly with our school. We are still doing our contest each month to reward the classroom/s with the most Wildcat Watch volunteers.
Why the Change?
Inclusivity: We want to ensure our program welcomes all parents and grandparents—moms, dads, and guardians alike.
Tailored Program: Creating our own program allows us to focus on Wilmot's specific needs without the constraints of the national Watch D.O.G.S. guidelines.
Cost Efficiency: Transitioning away from the national program helps us avoid unnecessary expenses, allowing us to allocate resources where they're needed most.
Volunteers Needed
We're still in need of volunteers for the rest of this week and throughout the month. Your support is crucial in keeping our students safe during drop-off and pick-up times, as well as checking the school's exterior doors after classes begin.
Sign-Up Updates: We will be updating the sign-up forms to reflect our new name, Wildcat Watch. Keep an eye out for these changes, and feel free to sign up for any dates that fit your schedule.

Join the Fun—Wear the Wildcat Mascot Suit!
To add some extra fun and school spirit, we're inviting any interested volunteers to wear the Wildcat mascot during their shifts! We already have one enthusiastic parent doing this, and the kids love it. If you'd like to join in, send us an email.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.
Go Wildcats!
