Welcome Back Wilmot Wildcats!
Dear Wonderful Wilmot Parents,
I hope you are having a great weekend! The first two days of school with our kindergarten through 5th graders went very well. We are looking forward to welcoming our littlest wildcats into the building tomorrow for the first day of preschool.
Please join us for Back to School night on Thursday, August 22nd. We are changing the format a bit this year so you can choose what you would like to learn about during the first part of the evening. As our staff thought through all of the information and resources we want to share with you, we decided we need more time. Please note that Back to School night will now start at 5:00 and wrap up by 7:00. We will begin the evening with an introduction in the cafeteria and then you can choose if you would like to learn about safety and security, extracurricular activities, art/music/PE, or the ALP process. During the next two rotations, you can go to your child’s classroom to learn about literacy and math instruction. There is a second rotation of this same information for families with multiple children. We look forward to seeing you there!
There are two “Assessment” days coming up on Friday, August 23rd and Monday, August 26th. There are a variety of benchmark assessments that teachers are required to administer at three points during the school year. All elementary schools are asked to plan four “modified contact” days during the year to facilitate the collection of assessment data to plan for instruction and to gauge progress towards standards in reading and math. In order to make things easier for families, whenever possible, we are scheduling two hour blocks when small groups of students will attend to complete assessments. Please use this link to sign up: 2024 Fall Assessments. If this presents a challenge for your family, Rocky Mountain Kids provides care at Wilmot on assessment days and will facilitate getting your student/s to and from their assessment appointment.
One very important role at Wilmot is that of our volunteer Watch Dogs - dads, moms, grandparents, and community members who help with arrival and dismissal every day. They facilitate safe use of the crosswalk and, at arrival, check our exterior doors to make sure the building is secure. If you are interested in becoming a Watch Dog, please see the link below to access the required paperwork to get the process started.
Speaking of Watch Dogs, I want to take a moment to recognize Arturo Gutierrez, a tireless volunteer at Wilmot who passed away yesterday morning. Mr. Gutz, as he was affectionately known, started volunteering at Wilmot over a decade ago when his grandson, Austin, started elementary school and continued to be a faithful Watch Dog for years - even after his granddaughter, Maria, left Wilmot for middle and high school. Art also volunteered at Conifer HS and through many organizations in the mountain area, including Rotary, Kiwanis, and Scouting. The world has lost an amazing human who devoted his life to making a positive impact on his neighbors and community through service. He will be missed!
I’m looking forward to seeing you at school this week!

It's hard to say goodbye! Share in the excitement of a new school year and maybe shed a tear after dropping off your new preschooler in class. Our amazing Wilmot PTA would like to invite preschool families to join us outside the preschool playground after drop-off on Monday for coffee, pastries, and a chance to meet with other Wilmot parents as we begin the 24-25 school year.

No worries! Please take a look at this slideshow for more information: New to Wilmot.
We look forward to introducing our 24-25 staff members, going over the logistics for our new school year, and discussing operational information with families at Back to School Night. We will start in the cafeteria. After a quick presentation, families will move into classrooms where they will hear from their new teachers and discuss volunteer opportunities. We will also have tables at the entrance with club, activity, and after care information for students who are interested.
The Wilmot community works together to ensure high levels of learning for all. This includes not only being attentive to academic growth, but also recognizing that the social and emotional growth of students is critically important. We will be using the Social Skills Improvement System™ Social-Emotional Learning Edition Screening/Progress Monitoring Scales (SSIS SEL) to screen students' social-emotional competencies. The SSIS SEL Edition Screening/Progress Monitoring Scales is a strength-based tool for screening and progress monitoring social and emotional competence. Teachers will be asked to score each student in their class in the five areas: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. Most students will be screened two times per year.
Calling all Watch DOGS, current and new! This year we will be continuing with our Watch DOGs competing in a fun and friendly competition to see who volunteers the most for each month and wins a PJ, stuffy party for their child/children or grandchild/grandchildren's classroom.
For those who are interested in joining Watch DOGs, love competitions, but most importantly want to win a classroom party please reach out to us at wilmotwatchdogs@gmail.com to be added to the signup emails.
If you are new to being a Watch Dog we have the paperwork here to get you started! All Watch Dog volunteers need to fill out the Person of Interest Form and Volunteer Disclosure Form. Please return completed forms to Mrs. Carly in the office or at carly.allen@jeffco.k12.co.us

Is your student interested in playing an instrument this year? Mr. Weedman is excited to get started and will be hosting a beginner information and instrument rental night on Tuesday, August 27th at Marshdale Elementary School. Wilmot students will have band or orchestra on Tuesday and Thursday mornings this year.
Concerts throughout the year have been scheduled. Please see the following link for more information.
You can also visit the Instrumental Music website for more information.
Does your 4th/5th grade student want to volunteer in our community? Here is their opportunity! Mrs. Langowski will be leading our Community Action Team or CATs again this year. Meetings will be from 11:35-11:55 in Mrs. Langowski's room. Interested 4th and 5th graders should come to our initial meetings to learn more and sign-up. Please see the linked flyer here for additional details.
Please see the 24-25 School Supply List below. School supplies can be dropped off during the Ice Cream Social when kiddos make their way to their 24-25 classrooms.
There is a new way for families to report their student's absence. Take a look at the provided link to the directions/explanation of this new tool. Please call the office if you have any questions.
The Campus Parent Absence Request Tool is a function within Infinite Campus (IC) that improves the reporting and processing of excused absences for both families and staff. Families will use Campus Parent to report same-day or upcoming absences easily. Absence reports will automatically be generated within IC and are easily reviewed and processed by office staff, saving significant time daily.
