Angèle Lux

(3,0,6) = 15 pts

**Has anyone ever tested whether position affects outcome? Is #1 a strong position, a weak one, or no difference? Anyway, this might be rearranged, I think, switching line 2 and line 3, and, perhaps, "the sky growing larger".

bathing my father

a scar I never knew

Tom Painting

(3,14,16) = 53 pts

**Poignant and loving.

**The combination of intimacy and pathos is almost overwhelming.

**So many things we don’t necessarily know about our parents. Of course, after reading lines 2-3, then one must wonder what else isn’t known and why. Love the connection between speaker and father in the “bathing” juxtaposed with something unknown which then breaks the connection between the two, but then allows the possibility for reconnection if the speaker asks about the scar.

**It doesn't walk, talk, or squawk like haiku, but it's haiku, the art of juxtaposition and the single moment – even if, in this case, a moment of reflection.

**Nice play on “I think.” However, this haiku elevates what it means to be human and shows our fragility. Love it!
