bathing my father
a scar I never knew
he had
Tom Painting
(3,14,16) = 53 pts
**Poignant and loving.
**The combination of intimacy and pathos is almost overwhelming.
**So many things we don’t necessarily know about our parents. Of course, after reading lines 2-3, then one must wonder what else isn’t known and why. Love the connection between speaker and father in the “bathing” juxtaposed with something unknown which then breaks the connection between the two, but then allows the possibility for reconnection if the speaker asks about the scar.
