nothing
Sandi Pray
USA
(2,4,9) = 23 pts
AND
a white hair
in my eyebrow...
morning chill
polona
(0,8,7) = 23 pts
**I love the vivid contrast/connection between the body and nature. Simple in the best way, and full of feeling.
**i feel this has a few layers, the white on the hair opens them up. thought provoking. i mulled over this a while. beautiful.
----------------------------------
Third Place - 20 Points
----------------------------------
morning chill
the rough edges
of my breath
Alan S. Bridges
(1,5,7) = 20 pts

to the rake
Jayashree Maniyil
Australia
(1,3,10) = 19 pts

Tom Painting
(1,2,9) = 16 pts

----------------------------------
15 Points
----------------------------------
morning chill -
the other side of the bed
empty
Israel López Balan
(1,2,8) = 15 pts
**This is most effective I think, if we take the chill literally before turning to the metaphorical implications. Then lines 1-2 deepen the chill.
----------------------------------
14 Points
----------------------------------
pine needles
blanket my path...
morning chill
Pat
(0,2,10) = 14 pts
**"blanket" suggests that the beauty of the scene may take some of the chill out of the chill. Placing the "chill" last is an effective choice.

General Comments:
**Many good haiku. It's getting harder and harder to give a vote.
**I found it hard for the first time to allocate my 6 votes, but finally found 6 haiku I really enjoyed. Thank you!
**Speaking generally, some of the poems that got my votes probably won't make the top of the list, and i deliberately left out a couple that will likely end there but with such quantity of accomplished poems i tried to go for the less obvious.
**I am glad to go through a large number of lovely haiku.
**Quite interesting the varied takes haijin-s wrote a haiku/senryu on the theme though a lot dwelt on the theme of "reflection (mirror)". Thanks again for this wonderful opportunity
**I would have gladly given each of these amazing haiku more points, but was constrained by
the total of six points.
**Many thanks again for this wonderful chance to read and vote on some excellent haiku and for my haiku to be read and voted on as well.
**Unfortunately, I haven't seen a puddle for months!!! Had to buy water to fill my house tank. Normally I depend on rainwater. First time had to do this in 25 years! Sadly, the spring veggies have wilted:( [From Australia]
**In Kenya, "puddle" is a kigo for the current season, the short rains. I expect quite a few haiku in this category!
