About Classic Arab Music

This site is meant to give solid information about the main features of the classic Arab music of the 20th century. This includes history, development, leaders & their works, music analysis, appraisal & comparative studies. It also includes survey of works & shares of the main figures who contributed to development of Arab music during that period.

The information is conveyed in Arabic, as expected audience is Arabic readers in & outside the Arab region.

The information given should help readers, researchers & musicians of the new generations form good idea about the musical work that has been produced in the last century as it is claimed to be the best of Arab music along its long history which does deserve study.

The site drags special importance from the fact noted for the last two decades of the 20th century & the beginnings of the 21st century that Arab music production featured less depth & creativity than experienced during the early & middle decades of the last century. The deterioration in the quality of music is frequently attributed to the emergence of the video clip era, giving more concentration on the picture rather than the audio. However, pictured film clips were known in the Arab movie songs as early as the thirties of the last century and hence the site explores other possible reasons for quality ups & downs.

The site may expand to cover areas of music education, library formation and other interesting areas. Whilst the information supplied is intended to be free, some material can be costly & may have to be charged.

It is hoped that Classic Arab Music will bridge the gap between the past & present and help keep in memory those who spent their lives for the best of human creativity & expression.
