Wednesday, October 4th was the third day of Homecoming Week for ThunderRidge. After school where everyone sported orange for the spirit day, our events for the day began.
The first event was the staff/student softball game. ThunderRidge’s Unified Program represented the students and select teachers represented the staff. The game was great, with electrifying energy from both sides. It ultimately ended in a tie, which the teachers took as a win.
One teacher, Mr. Wrenn, played in the game for the first time. “It was a great experience. It’s always nice when we are able to include our unified students in events like this.” Mr. Wrenn showed out, pitching in the final inning to seal the deal and end the game in a tie. “It’s electric, and the fans were great,” He said. “I really hope to play next year.”
As the game wrapped up and the day faded to night, some staff members prepared for the bonfire, which was eventful. Everyone enjoyed the festivities and food that was there, especially the free hot dogs. While people were waiting for the fire to be lit, many listened to the local performance of the band that was there. The people enjoyed it, singing along as they played popular songs.
Eventually, the fire was lit and the crowd all gathered around. Local firefighters helped it to be a safe operation so it could be enjoyed by all. As the bonfire got smaller and smaller, the crowd followed, and the night of fun was over.
