Mac Jones is the rookie quarterback for the New England Patriots. He is leading the team to a record of 9-4. Recently, his stats have been going up a lot like against the Atlanta Falcons and the Cleveland Browns; he has above an 80% completion rate against these teams. Also, people are wondering if that success has only come from the head coach of the Patriots, Bill Belichick. People are also asking the same thing about one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, Tom Brady who was also coached by Bill Belichick back when he played for the Patriots. Tom Brady was drafted in the year 2000 as the 199th pick by Bill Belichick. He is now on the Tampa Buccaneers and just won his 7th Super Bowl.
Tom Brady played at the University of Michigan in 1995 and did not see the field much for his first two seasons. In junior year, he finally ended up starting as the QB. Like I said in the intro, Tom Brady was drafted as the 199th pick in the year 2000 draft. In his first season, he was a backup for the Patriots and only played one game during that season. But in the 2001 season, he did end up starting for the team and by the end of the season he had 2,843 yards, and 18 touchdowns in 15 games. That season he also was elected to be in the pro bowl and also won his first AFC championship. He ended up shocking the NFL fanbase.
Mac Jones is a rookie in the NFL and plays QB for the Patriots. In college, he was the starting QB for Alabama and was in the Heisman run. The Heisman is an award that you get in college for the most outstanding player that year and Tom Brady was close to getting it. In the 2021 draft, he was in the 1st round as the 15th overall pick. In his junior season in college, he got a total of 4,500 passing yards. As of right now, the Patriots are leading the AFC at 9-4 and have the number one seed for the playoffs.
In my opinion, I do think that Tom Brady’s and Mac Jones' success has been because of Bill Belichick. In college, Brady was not very good seeing as he did not start on his college team until his junior year. Also, he went very late in the draft and the only reason that they ended up picking him up was that they needed a solid backup role at the QB position. But, Mac Jones was really good his whole college career and was drafted very early. Also, at the beginning of his NFL career, he was 2-4 and now they are on a 7 game win streak because of Mac Jones.
Mac Jones is currently the starting QB for the Patriots and got drafted right after Tom Brady left the Patriots. At the beginning of the season they were not looking too good at 2-4, but they are now on a 7 game win streak with a record of 9-4. With all those wins, the one man who has stood out on the Patriots is Mac Jones. Out of nowhere, his stats have increased a lot from the start of the season. Will this be another top QB coming from Bill Belichick? In my opinion, I do think that Bill Belichick will work his magic and make another top QB just because of his play-calling and coaching skills.
