After 22 seasons, the NFL is letting go of the greatest QB to ever play. Tom Brady is retiring at the age of 44. In 22 seasons, he played in 318 games and out of those games he started in 316 of them. Tom Brady finally ended up retiring because he said he feels like he can no longer put 100% into the game. He didn't want to let all his fans, teammates and even the opposing teams down by not giving his all. But if we are being honest, nobody is surprised that he is finally retiring.
Brady retired at the age of 44 and had probably the best career in NFL history with a record of 243-73-0 and broke a lot of records. He went to the Pro Bowl 15 times, won 5 Super Bowl MVP awards, had 7,263 completions out of 11,317 passes, and had a record of 84,520 passing yards. Tom Brady in his 22 years of playing in the NFL went to 10 Super bowls, and won 7. Tom Brady was with the Buccaneers for two years and won a super bowl the first year with them (2020-2021 season) then made it to the playoffs of the 2021-2022 season.
For Brady's last season, he played on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he had one of his best seasons he has ever had as the oldest player in the league. According to Gil Arcia, (2022) “He finished his second season as a Buccaneers in 2021 with 5,316 yards, 43 touchdowns, and a 67.5 percent completion percentage; his touchdowns and completion percentage were the second highest numbers of his career. His 485 completions were the highest number of passes of his 22 seasons”. Those stats are pretty crazy because he was the oldest Quarterback in the NFL and was still breaking his personal records.
When Brady retired from the NFL and had a record breaking career, he shocked the football fanbase. Even at 44 years old, he was passing some of his old personal bests like his number of touchdowns and completion percentages in one season. He also had the most Pro Bowls in the NFL at 15, one more then Tony Gonzalez. But one question remains: Will Tom Brady ever return to the NFL? You may think that his time on the field is over, but as Tom Brady himself said, “never say never”.
