Thunderridge is very excited to be welcoming all its new teachers to our school. We have so many new courses for the students to take, a few of them are with Mr. Campfield, who is one of the new teachers that joined us this year. He came from Mountain Vista and we are so happy that he is joining us. He is the new mindfulness, adventure experience, and athletic training teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. We reached out to him to learn about Thunderridge through the eye of a new teacher and about the classes he is teaching.
We asked him what a typical day in his life consisted of: He explained, “I get to school and eat breakfast. I begin preparing for the day and getting ready for all my classes. Then I teach all my classes and clean up then go out to football practice. Then I go home.”
We also were very curious about why he moved from our rival school, Mountain Vista, to Thunderridge and he informed us that it gave him, “The opportunity to be challenged by rebuilding the athletic program. Challenges are how you grow so I was looking for a challenge in my life.” We were also very curious to know how Thunderridge compares to Mountain Vista and he let us know that, "It's incredibly similar, but the differences are the traditions everyone talks about and how ThunderRidge is important to the community and how important the community is to ThunderRidge.” He clearly made the right move by coming to Thunderridge!
During this interview something that really stood out to us about Mr. Campfield was how important the students are to him: “The coolest part about teaching is to see students beginning the year at point A and finishing at point B. Wherever that growth is it is very cool to see!” He is not just invested in the school just because it is his job, but is interested in bettering the school and getting involved by becoming one of the 2022-2023 football coaches!
We are so excited to bring such a vibrant teacher to ThunderRidge High School and we are beyond excited to welcome him as our new mindfulness, adventure experience, athletic training teacher, and football coach!
