Okay Readers welcome back to the Newspaper advent calendar. It is now day 6 out of our 15 days of rankings, and with 2 weeks left until the end of the semester it is time to start ranking the best holiday movies. Starting off with the best (or the worst), the classic, Hallmark movies. They may all have the same plot but it is definitely safe to say that some are better than others and today we will tell you what is worth watching, and what is a waste of time.
Hallmark movies are well-known for their predictable, and, truthfully, usually horrible plots. According to Hallmark's very own list ranking the number one Hallmark holiday movie was All Of My Heart which 87.4% of watchers enjoyed. This movie was made in 2015 and follows Jenny Fintley and Brian Howell as they both inherit a small country home in the suburbs. Although they dislike each other towards the start of the movie, throughout the house renovation project they learn to like, and maybe even love, eachother. The second place spot goes to Two Turtle Doves which 86.8% of watchers enjoyed. This movie was created in 2019 and follows Dr. Sharon Hayes who returns home for Christmas to search for an old family heirloom with the help of her neighbors and her father, and along the way they rediscover the magic of Christmas. All very predictable.
Now before we get to the worst Hallmark movie I would like to make a few honorable mentions. First, Ghosts Of Christmas Always is a movie that came out this year and follows Katherine, a ghost of Christmas Present who is sent to Earth to help save Peter Baron, a Scrooge who has lost his Christmas spirit, however along the way there might be some love in store for the protagonists Kate and Peter. Finally, the last place movie award goes to Love In The Sun (2019) with a final audience score of 43.8%. This movie follows Alana, a successful dating app CEO, who returns home after hesitantly getting engaged, however at home she finds herself refalling in love with her former flame, Kai. We may never know why the same plot over and over again is so popular, however, every year during Christmas this is the channel to watch whether you're by yourself or with friends and family.
Regardless of your view on classic Hallmark, we can all agree they are classically terrible movies. Be sure to tune in tomorrow for our ranking of the best and worst Christmas movies of all time!
