The 2022 NFL draft started on Thursday, April 28th and ended on Saturday, April 30th. The general consensus is that the top five best drafts went to the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Green Bay Packers. The worst five drafts belonged to the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders, and the New England Patriots.
Some of the best drafts this year are, the Ravens first pick in the draft was a safety named Kyle Hamilton and they picked him because he is 6’4 and weighs 219 pounds, so he will be able to hit a lot harder and is a lot bigger than their previous safety. The New York Jets drafted the number one prospect for cornerbacks Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner and they picked him because of the amazing stats he had over his college career. The Philadelphia Eagles picked Defensive Tackle Jordan Davis because their general manager wants to have the biggest and best defensive line in the league and he is better than the 6 '6, 340 pound Jordan Davis. The Kansas City Chiefs drafted cornerback Trent Mcuffie because they need a stronger defensive back field because they have one of the weakest in the league. The Green Bay Packers drafted Quay Walker because they wanted to get a better defense this offseason so they added some of the best players from Georgia's defense because they had one of the better defenses in college football this past year.
Some of the worst drafts this year are the Miami Dolphins because they got a linebacker from the Georgia roster. Out of all the linebackers in Georgia he was just about the worst so he might not even do anything for the Dolphins. The San Francisco 49ers drafted defensive linemen Drake Jackson which is a really solid pick for them but they had one of the worst drafts because they had only three picks in the draft and that was their only good one. The Los Angeles Rams drafted the offensive linemen Logan Bruss. He would usually be a great draft pick for any normal team but they just won the super bowl last year and their offensive line was one of the best in the league so they don't need him. The Washington Commanders drafted cornerback Martin Emerson but he is not the reason their draft was so bad. The reason it was so bad is because their first pick was in the 4th round, and they did not get anybody good after Martin Emerson. The New England Patriot drafted Offensive guard Cole Strange which is a really weird first round draft pick because usually you want to pick a running back, linebacker and more.
Before the NFL draft on April 28, 2022, draft wire released their top five prospects for every position but I'm going to talk about the 1st in most positions. At quarterback, the number 1 prospect was Kenny Picket. Of the running backs, the top one was Isaiah Spiller. The number one for wide receivers was Jameson Williams, and the top for cornerbacks was Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. All of these guys did deserve to be at the top of their positions like for example Kenny Pickett, in his senior year in college, won the Johnny Unitas Golden arm reward (the most outstanding senior quarterback in college football). Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner throughout his college career allowed a catch rate of below 50% and in his whole college career he never let a touchdown pass up. Everybody on the list has some pretty impressive stats but those were the two that stood out the most.
Those are the reasons that those were some of the best draft picks of the year and some of the worst draft picks of the year. Looking back on it some people got really bad drafts mainly because they traded their first round picks for better people then they would get in the draft. So even with the bad drafts the teams are still getting better.
