The Perfect Thanksgiving Cheese Danish

Are you looking for the perfect Thanksgiving dessert? Well, you have come to the right place. This recipe is effortless, flavorful, and ideal for the whole family. Cheese Danishes were first made by Austrian bakers in 1850. This happened during a strike among local Danish bakers in Denmark. Workers abroad came to fill these jobs, therefore, creating new goodies. Cheese Danishes are light, rich, flaky pastry sometimes filled with fruits, cheese, custard, and nuts.
The total prep/cook time is 28 minutes. Let's get into the recipe!
Ingredients
Danishes:
2 tubes of crescent rolls
1 8 oz package cream cheese softened (Leave out on the counter for 20 minutes)
¼ cup granulated white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoon butter
8 tablespoon light brown sugar
Glaze:
½ cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 teaspoon milk
Preheat the oven to 350 ℉. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese with white sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
Separate crescent dough into eight rectangles (there will be two crescent rolls to each rectangle). Seal perforations.
Using a brush or spoon, spread melted butter all over crescent rolls.
Sprinkle each rectangle with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.
Roll up from the long side of the crescent rectangle; pinch edges to seal.
Holding one end, loosely coil each forming the base of your pastry.
Spread the dough out in the middle some to make room for the filling.
Place each pastry on a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with nonstick spray. Top each coil with 2 tablespoons of cream cheese filling.
Bake at 350 ℉ for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
For the glaze, in a bowl, combine powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Stir until smooth and drizzle over each warm danish.
*This step is completely optional; add 1 tablespoon of whole berry cranberry sauce on top of each pastry for extra flavor!*
Student Review:
These were fast and delicious! They are soft with just the right crunch. The cranberries were a refreshing touch! I would 10/10 recommend these as a quick and unique Thanksgiving dessert.
This is my new go-to pastry recipe! Half of my family is very picky while the other half loves trying new things! This recipe fits right in. Especially with those picky eaters, you can add all sorts of topping to personalize your pastry! I hope this sounds as good as it tastes!
