Now that we are moving into spring sports it marks the end of winter sports. Meaning that wrestling and girls' swimming have concluded and they did amazing this year. This year so many Grizzlies made it to state and they competed for ThunderRidge very well. Both teams have excellent talent and they have shown that this season! Both teams have amazing captains that lead them throughout the whole season.

For the wrestlers, Nic Vicic (12) is a three-time state placer and captain of the team. We asked him many questions about the team and himself. We asked him about what it is like being captain of the team and how it impacts his life and his teammates. He responded “Being captain brings a lot of responsibility, but luckily we have a lot of young talent that stepped up when we needed it most. This allowed for us to be more successful overall and make my job as head captain a little less stressful”. These young athletes help make the program stronger and show Nic that what he does as a captain will be seen by them and he hopes they will carry the tradition on. He is very grateful for the opportunity to lead this program and to leave a mark on all the younger kids so they can lead the program one day.

Girls Swim!

Next up we have the head captain of the girl's swim team Ryan Stolk (11) who is a two-time state qualifier. She is such a hard worker on the team so the coaches saw that and put her as captain this year.  "To me, being a captain is an opportunity to lead and inspire, not in a dramatic way, but lower classmen look up to older classmen. I'm in the position where not only I can get girls excited to compete, and swim, but also proud to be a Grizzly". She will lead her team for one more year until her role gets passed down to a younger swimmer so they can lead the team.

Both teams did amazing this season, and the seniors are sad to leave but are happy with how they made an impact on the team. The other grades are so excited for the future and the opportunities that they will have next year!
