It is finally Homecoming season, everyone’s favorite time of year! This year we played against Chatfield. This football game is different from any other, Chatfield was last year’s 4A State Champions and winning would top off our homecoming week.
We wanted to know how the players were feeling about the upcoming homecoming game.
CJ Reese (11) said, “I’m excited and should be good if we play to our potential, we should be up by 40 in the first half”. Caleb Keith (12) said “Amazing, we have been amazing so far”.
While playing on the field there is a lot of pressure, but there is even more pressure when it is the homecoming game. We asked the players what their thoughts were while they were on the field and CJ said, “I think of my next assignment and what I can do better.” While playing any game our adrenaline is going to be high, but how high was it really during the homecoming game? We asked CJ on a scale of 1-10 how high his adrenaline was during the game and for him, it was an immediate “10 because of everything going on on the field.”
A lot is going on behind the scenes for the homecoming game. One of the other important things are the cheerleaders cheering on the football team as well as entertaining the crowd. We want to know how the homecoming game was different than any other this season. Anna Martin (11) said, “This game shows the real school spirit and the crowd is way more excited; it’s like a representation of our school.” Camille Hamlin (12). said “It’s different because we're playing the 4A state champs and makes the competition harder now.” The cheerleader’s play an important role and they have their favorite parts about the homecoming game. Anna said, “Probably the adrenaline that everyone has through the game because it’s such a big deal.” Camille said, “The halftime performance with the pom and cheer team.”
During halftime of the homecoming game, homecoming royalty was announced! For those who do not know, homecoming royalty is an opportunity for school couples to be nominated to be king and queen of their grade. We wanted to know if some of the couples thought that they would royalty this year. Sailor Pritchard (12) and Ethan Hill (12) when asked about homecoming royalty Sailor and her partner Ethan were confident they were going to win. Hannah Cushing (11) said “No, I think Taylor and Andrew are going to win”, and Jonah Ceglian (11) confident said, “We will pull through in the end”.
Being nominated for royalty is always a huge honor and something to be proud of. These are the nominees thoughts. Hannah said “I’m happy and I didn’t think we would even be here”. Jonah said, “I feel optimistic about what's to come”. Sailor and Ethan expressed that they were both excited.
Amazing way to get more excited for homecoming is by winning the game 28-13. A wonderful outcome leaving everyone thrilled and Cable even said “It felt great because Chatfield was talking a lot of crap.” With the Homecoming Game leaving the ThunderRidge Grizzlies 4-0. Student CJ(11) said “the team spirit was up and it set the outcome for the rest of the games this season.” A beautiful way to bring all of our school spirit together to help cheer on our school and our football team!
