Everybody loves the holidays. Whether it is because you get time off, have a chance to relax, or enjoy some holiday baking, it is something we all have in common. During the holidays you get to eat some of the best food including rolls, cookies, turkey, and ham. I asked people what their favorite type of food for the holidays was. Ashley Mcgillivray (11) said, “cookies”, Jordan Villanueba (11) said “rolls”, and Gen Bennett said, “appetizer nuggets” These foods are people's top favorites for the holidays, so I wanted to find the perfect recipe for each one of these items.
The first recipe that I made was Snickerdoodles and was from Ashley M. The recipe for these cookies was easy and simple. All you need is sugar, cinnamon, butter, vanilla, and flour. While these cookies were super fun to make, you need to make sure that there is cinnamon inside of your dough instead of just the outside of the cookies. You also want to make sure that when rolling these cookies in the cinnamon and sugar mixture you make sure to coat the whole cookie. These cookies are delicious and classic for the holidays.
Another all-time favorite during the holiday season is rolls. Rolls are a nice way to stay warm and cozy during the holidays. This recipe was a little more complicated than the Snickerdoodles and is from Jordan V: All you need is milk, yeast, sugar, an egg, butter, salt, and flour. Once the dough is done let it rise and then put them in the oven. When making these, you want to make sure that your dough is stretchy enough because that is what will make your rolls fluffy. Also, make sure that you knead the dough enough or it will not rise properly. These are the most delicious rolls and are a fun dish to share over the holidays.
A fun part of holiday dinners is the amazing appetizers. The best thing about appetizers is that there is an unlimited amount that you can choose from, and they are all delicious. One of the best appetizers from Gen Ben would have to be appetizer nuggets. The recipe calls for chicken, bacon, orange marmalade, salt and peper, lime and cheese. When making these you want to make sure that you cook them until they are golden and crispy. They're quick, easy, and delicious. It only takes one time to get hooked on this amazing dish and will become a fan favorite.
Overall, there are so many amazing and delicious food items for the holiday season. There truly is something for everyone and that makes the holiday season even better.
