Every year on February 14th we celebrate love, friendship, and everything in between. Regardless of if you hate or adore this love-filled holiday, it's a classic.
Valentine's Day is named after St. Valentine a Roman Priest who was alive in 200 AD. On February 14th he was believed to be beheaded after defying the Roman Ruler of the time Claudius the Cruel. Claudius had banned engagement and marriage because he believed it weakened his men - in turn creating a weaker army. Long after his death, St. Valentine was named a saint for his perseverance to spread love. Although this day has a gory history we remember it for the efforts of St. Valentine who believed in love and its importance to the human soul.
This year, we wanted to share the love at ThunderRidge and went to interview some of our school's cutest couples. We loved talking to each and every couple and thought some of their responses were worth sharing.
Senior couple, Jeffery Franquemont and Audrey Inman have been together since sophomore year and are still going strong. When asking Jeff about his favorite thing about his girlfriend he said he loves how much fun she always has. Audrey told us she loves how funny Jeff is. Every couple has a favorite memory and Jeff’s favorite memory, is how she convinced him to like ranch. Audrey’s favorite memory is when the two went to the aquarium and saw the otters together.
Junior couple, Alexus Baker and Charlie Spann have been together for 15 months. Charlie told us his favorite thing about Lexie is her eyes. How cute! Lexie on the other hand told us her favorite thing about Charlie is his sense of humor and how good-looking he is. Charlie couldn’t give us a FAVORITE memory, but, Lexie told us the sweetest story of how Charlie stayed with her when she was in the hospital for a month.
Sophomore Couple Oliver Hall and Taylor Curry have been together for only seven months but are head over heels for each other. Taylor told us her favorite trait about Oliver is his outgoing personality, where Oliver told us how much he loves Taylor’ sweet smile. Their favorite story is of the two skiing at Keystone where Oliver left Taylor on the mountain!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t get in contact with any freshmen couples but we wish them all the best in their highschool career! Happy Valentine's and if you have a sweetheart or not remember to share the love with those around you.
XOXO
