Sadie's Dance

It’s finally the long awaited Grizzly Gives Week! That means it is time for the Sadies Dance, where the girl gets to ask the boy to be her date for the dance! The Sadie Hawkins Dance is a really exciting school dance where ThunderRidge plays the best music and students get to dance to a bunch of flashing lights. Anyone can participate even without a date, but if you want a date, go ask your significant other out! This is a perfect opportunity to express your feelings if you missed your opportunity on Valentine’s Day. However, if you are not interested or too nervous to ask anyone, just go with a few of your friends, and it will be a fun experience for anyone single or taken!
For Sadies, it is the boys’ turn to get asked to the dance, so the girls feel the pressure to ask someone. Ella Easton (11) asked Max Bills (10) and she was not scared because she was just asking him as friends. Anna Dunford (11) also asked someone, and she had the same thing to say because she was just asking him as friends. She made him a poster that said “Will you be my chick at Sadies?” and she got him a chick filled with a gift card.
This year, the Sadies dance took place in the commons of our school. The theme for the dance Luau so we have lots of our amazing students wear their hawaii shirts and leis. The people who made the place come to life was the amazing Student Government. Ella said she moved the balloon arch and hung up the balloon around the common ceiling. Anna made the big Sadies 2022 poster that was hung up.
Sadies is a different night to remember and an amazing time to hangout with friends. Ella said her favorite part was, “the dance circle and seeing my friends.” Anna said her favorite part was “getting dinner with my friends before the dance.” We also had amazing teachers as chaperones such as Mrs. Rants, and she said her favorite part was “seeing the kids happy.” She liked the good music, the kona ice, and that it gave everyone a fun thing to do.
Thunder Ridge always has something for the students to do, and the Sadie’s Dance is a perfect time to catch a break from school and have fun with friends. Next time Grizzly Gifts Week comes around, make sure you don’t miss this event, it’ll make for good memories!
